Ray Price - Danny Boy Lyrics

Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling,
From glen to glen and down the mountainside.
The summer's gone and all the flow'rs are dying,
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summmer's in the meadow,
And when the valley's hushed and white with snow.
'Tis I'll be there in sunlight or in shadow,
Oh, Danny boy, Oh Danny boy' I love you so.
And if you come when all the flowers are dying,
And I am dead, as dead I may well be,
You'll come and find the place where I am lying,
And kneel and say and 'Ave' there for me.
And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me,
And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be.
If you only tell me that you love me,
Then I will sleep in peace until you come to me.
[Repeat first two verses]

Oh pequeño Danny, las fuentes, las fuentes están llamando
De cañada a cañada, bajando la ladera de la montaña.
Se acabó el verano, y todas las rosas cayeron.
Eres tú, debes irte y debo esperar.

My dad saw Ray in Henderson Texas 1951. I had the pleasure of carrying my Mom and Dad to see Ray again several times over the last 5 years of his life. The man was a singer with few or any equals and he was someone who was gonna do it is way or not do it at all. He lived in Mt Pleasant Texas and was often seen shopping at Wal Mart . Just a regular guy with strong principals and a gift of being one of the greatest voices ever. I saw his next to last show and the man never lost his voice. He was a great singer till the end. RIP Noble Ray Price

THIS IS THE ONE. THOSE OF US WHO KNEW RAY AND LOVED HIM KNEW THE TRUTH> HE WAS WIDENING THE APPEAL OF COUNTRY MUSIC INTO THE MODERN ERA. FOR THAT NASHVILLE, NOW KNOWN AS MUSIC CITY USA, SHOULD BE EVERMORE GRATEFUL AND ERECT A STATUE OF RAY AND FORCE EACH SUCCEEDING MAYOR TO KISS THE POSTERIOR PORTION OF IT IN ETERNAL THANKS. 'NUFF SAID ON THE BEST PERFORMANCE OF "DANNY BOY" EVER DON-CHA-KNOW!

  44. M.... P....

Ray Price ,my all time singer!! RIP!!

  45. K.... F....

I have been profoundly Deaf since the age of 6Years. I am now 82, it was not until the advent of digital hearing aids and computers that I was able to hear birds singing in springtime and follow tunes, but sadly I couldn't get the lyrics until I got a computer and a neck loop to enable me to follow both lyrics and tunes. this version of Danny Boy is the best that I have heard.

  46. s.... c....

I AM 76 and everytime I hear this song I think of my grand parents, they both came over here from Ierland

  53. A.... W....

Ray Price put on a free show here in Hendersonville, Tennessee. The show was performed partially on a side walk. No chairs just people standing around listening. This must have happened about the middle sixties. He lived here for a time.

  54. M.... C....

I've heard and learnt and sung this from my earliest childhood but never so masterfully as this.

  55. d.... o....

My dad used to sing this to me as a baby he said. Danny is what my parent called me as a kid. In 2013 we went and saw Ray Price together in biloxi. To see the smile on my dad's face was awesome. My dad has just turned 76, that's was the same smile on his face I saw when I graduated boot camp. U guys know what I mean, that look of pure joy.

  64. G.... S....

  67. H.... H....

I listen to this a lot and every time it's like it's brand new, like I was hearing for first time. I'm 73 now and I can feel every word of this song. I've been a fan of Mr. Price for decades and I've never heard him sing a song that I didn't like. What an incredible talent and what a fine man. The way he can tell a story with his music is profound. I am so greatful for this being posted. I will miss him here in this world, but now he will sing forever.....

    H.... H....

Herb I am also 73 and every time I listen to this the tears flow

    H.... H....

  71. J.... H....

No Irish Tenor ever sang this so well .

  72. T.... M....

Ray could have sang anywhere any kind of music he was the best, and this version is great.

  73. B.... R....

Definitely one of the best...   not crazy about his orchestra days, but you cannot deny his talent ....   grew up with tons of Ray Price, early Willie (when he was clean cut), Haggard, George Jones, Hank Thompson...   I miss the era of great country music.....

  74. l.... b....

    the best for sure

  75. L.... C....

To me, Ray Price was country's Frank Sinatra.

    L.... C....

I introduced him onstage with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra as his backup! What a super performance when he had all those super musicians behind him.

    L.... C....

Bob Jones, that's cool! I'll bet it was a great night of music

    L.... C....

Yes you are correct ...remember Ray was Hank Sr's friend and room mate for awhile after Hank divorced. Ray was a guy that knew what he wanted and was not gonna waver much, It comes from growing up in the area he did. Ray was a genius.Ray was indeed shunned a bit when he brought in strings but looking back way ahead of his time

    L.... C....

Loren Cosby I don't want to start a controversy but, in my opinion, Frank Sinatra couldn't even come close to Ray Price's talent.

    L.... C....

I agree 100%. Both were great but Ray was a step above everyone

  76. D.... E....

    The Master

  77. D.... S....

It doesn't matter what others  think......this rendition is for me... all I need....' Sunday morning coming down'.... is another of this chaps classics and for that I am eternally grateful.  Don.S

You really have to wonder how or why someone would give a thumbs down to this. A classic song sung to perfection and the video lets you travel through your own life's memories. Pure musical genius and a very special piece of music history.

  82. R.... F....

I traveled a long road to hear Ray sing Danny Boy, I'm awful tired , but I'm glad I made the trip.

  83. G.... H....

The great perfectionist and vocals that will never be matched

  84. t.... d....

great old song sung by a great singer

  85. J.... L....

Ray Price...my daddy's favorite and no doubt, the greatest voice in country..,

  86. d.... o....

This is the song my folks named me after, the first time they heard it.

  87. A.... W....

The rock walls were constructed of what we in Tennessee call field stone. Houses were also constructed of field stone. Ray did live in Hendersonville, Tn. about three miles from where I have been living since 1962. Ray's early recordings were so different from what his voice sounded like before he died.

  88. J.... M....

I tried this song, and respect that family of Ray's are actively enjoying this one true personal record of someone who mattered. I hope you enjoy the song continuing through the generations. John  X

  89. s.... ....
