Ray Price - A Maiden's Prayer Lyrics
Twilight falls,
Evening shadows find,
There 'neath the stars a maiden so fair divine.
The moon on high seemed to see her there,
As she whisper'd a silent pray'r.
Ev'ry word revealed an empty, broken heart;
Broken by fate that holds them so far apart.
Lonely there she kneels, and tells the stars above,
In her arms he belongs, then her pray'r is a song,
Her unending song of love.

I would welcome a full-blown revival of Western Swing and western music! I've been doing my best buying music from George Strait, Alan Jackson, Asleep at the Wheel and others. But I can't do it alone. C'mon kids help me out and get good music back on the airwaves again!
Gorgeous.
The song to Janie was your best ever hats off to you
Love this what a voice.
Loved that Ray Price sound from first hearing it back about 51 or so, Ray had several singing styles from early hard country through the Ray Price Shuffle, then the Smoth sound of later years, all were the greatest.no one matches that Ray Price sound.

What can I say about this brilliant Voice 💖
I grew up with this song. My father would always dance with me to it. My nickname from him was "Raven Haired Beauty". I'm Choctaw/Cherokee.
My favorite country singer for over 40 years and still is I love his last session " Beauty Is"
An absolute classic song by one of the greatest C&W singers of all time. I'm thankful I was lucky enough to see Ray Price play live multiple times. He was one of the greats.
A day without listening to good country music like this is like a day without sunshine!! Janelle in Houston
no doubt, the definitive version of this song . sung by the master vocalist,Ray Price and his band the Cherokee Cowboys.

the greatest fiddle /vocal country song ever, just love it
Great voice!
this tune was written by a woman from Poland, Tekla Baranowska....in the 19th Century.
Simply the best fiddle record ever--not to mention Ray's great voice!!
I used to have this album on vinyl and played it all the time. I didn't know until just a few years ago that Willie Nelson was playing bass on this album. Ray needed a bass player and asked Willie if he played bass. Willie said, "Sure," and got hired. He had never played bass before in his life, but quickly turned into a pretty good bass player.
Wow, who knew?!
Joe Zinkan played bass on this recording,Willie played with his road band
Alas, the picture shows ma fellow texican, Bob Wells from Turkey, Texas...
Jes' sayin'...
