I have just listened to Paul complimenting Ray, for his cover of this great song and thought i would check it out. Paul is not wrong, its a brilliant cover but than what else would we expect from this great man.

I had an old 45 of this once. When played it at 33 RPM, it sounded like Isaac Hayes. When I play this on here at 0.75x speed, it sounds better

When you find out that your favorite beatles songs are Rary Charles's. Though I think while Charles was a great composer, the beatles had a better feeling for performing it.

Paul McCartney wrote this song in 1966. Rigby is a Lancashire surname, Paul McCartney is Catholic (hence 'Father'), Ray Charles covered this 2 years later.

This is the BEST cover of this great Beatles classic. Ray Charles put "Soul"into it.& the background vocals by the ladies really punctuate each verse. I will forever be reminded of the lazy days of my youth in August 1968 when this song played over the air waves of the local AM radio stations in Washington, D.C. It was a much simpler time. Now as a grandfather the lyrics take on more meaning as I look back wistfully on those days. Thanks to Paul McCartney & the Beatles for creating this great work of art & Thank You Ray Charles for your Soulful arrangement. R.I.P. John, George, & Ray.

He sings it in the manner of spirituals. Quite different from "The Beatles", however very good. Every good artist finds something new in the good music and discovers new and interesting facets making a masterpiece living longer and longer.

This is one of the best Beatles covers I have ever heard. It has this massive sound that even the full string section couldn't give the original. And Ray's vocal melody is so understated. What a great vocalist...
