Rateliff, Nathaniel - Falling Faster Than You Can Run Lyrics

I'm on the run
Aimming too low
Breaking away
On the feet of you all
And catchin the stone
With a side of my head

Hold me back
Walking it home
I'm taking the tracks
So leave me alone
You can see me fall
Faster than
You can run

Take it away
If you're feeling it's wrong
Kicking it back
Watch it dissolve
Tug on the line
Chained to the wall
I heard you call
We're not gonna make it at

Running
Will do you no good
I'm gonna fall
I probably should
Well catch me
You never could
I planned out the distance
From where you stood

When I hit the ground
Gonna laugh out loud
Gonna lay there a while
And stare at the clouds

Baby it looks bad
Or maybe from the angle I'm at
Well I tear off my shirt
And wrap it around
Your wound

Listen to this band EVERY day. Hey Mama brings me to tears. Lost my son to suicide in August 2017. The word's in that song say it all. Now that I can feel anger instead of waves of pain, Son you didn't try hard enough ..... Thank you

What a beautiful song..I heard this by accident..and at the time I was sorting so much out in my mind..and this spoke back to me what I was feeling. I love it..so much. This video shows that he feels what he wrote. It's wonderful..speaks to me in ways I cannot explain. Awesome..just beautiful.

  20. P.... D....

Anyone else getting a Willard Grant Conspiracy vide from this track?     Much as I love his 'Night Sweats" work, this just blows me away.

  21. D.... F....

Proof that real music doesn’t have to be fast and loud. A man (person) with a burn in his (their) soul can create magic. This song to me is just that. Magic

  22. x.... R....

he has too much of a good voice to be singing songs like these! I am a huge Dead South fan but dont really like his solo stuff...I tried, but the magic was not there....maybe because no other band sounds remotely to Dead South.

  23. R.... 7....

    This guy is awesome!!!

  24. A.... V....

this is such a powerful piece. Just "discovered" this guy and I'm blown away.

  25. J.... E....

About 5 years ago I ran sound for Nathaniel on the UW campus. He was just performing with a bassist at the time if I recall, yet it was the most gripping and moving performance I can remember; the kind of show that just has everyone raptured. Plus I recall that he was super kind and gracious even though we were just college students running the soundboard. I'm blown away by how his music has evolved.

  26. M.... N....

    I love Shakey!!

    A.... C....

    I love Shakey too!

    A.... C....

The same just happened to me!! WOW!!

  58. B.... Y....

To me, they concede to a relationship that, despite the dream of keeping, comes the realization that it is over. Although its still beautiful, it cannot be, and he knew it for long enough to measure its end. I believe this guy feels what he writes, and is on a level all his own, with good musicians along with him. I cannot help feeling drawn to this song, the self deprecating tone, as it haunts us. Well me, anyway. Awesome.

  59. T.... B....

This song makes me want to cry

    T.... B....

    I did cry. 2:08, I couldn't stifle it anymore.

    T.... B....

The crescendo at 2:40 is where I lose it

    T.... B....

    +Tom Berryhill its really emotional.

  60. M.... ....

Très très belle chanson, une petite perle on a envie qu'elle ne s'arrête jamais

  61. D.... D....

    awesome

  62. T.... B....

    It's speaks to me 🙏👏

  63. R.... H....

The song was featured in the movie The Place Beyond the Pines. The song made the movie that much more powerful. Nathaniel is so talented, hope to see him live one day.

    R.... H....

    RIght there with you!
Saw them at The Greek, and now I'm just scouring the tour dates looking for a small venue I can maybe go to.

These guys are just on another level.

Also, a shout out to Tennis. Amazing job opening

    R.... H....

Rene Hinojosa seeing Nathaniel on the 10th Nov in Leeds UK!! the excitement is beginning to show!

    R.... H....

haha saw them at the Greek too! Few months back. We might have been at the same show. Love these guys. Best concert I've been to.

    R.... H....

@Alexis G They had Tennis, and Jamestown Revival play before them, right??

It was an amazing concert, where were you??
I was second section up, like mid center of the theatre

    R.... H....

Rene Hinojosa The song you're thinking of from the film is "The Snow Angel" by Mike Patton. Which has a very similar sound and is almost equally haunting.

  64. T.... W....

He and Explosions in the Sky should collaborate. This sounds like a song of theirs from the Lone Survivor Soundtrack

  65. S.... P....

    HPC.. hello

  66. D.... M....

I love the music. Unfortunately there are no concerts in Washington State this year... I would love to see them live; I haven't been to a live concert since NiN in mid 90's at the Tacoma Dome. Check out the Admiral Theater in Bremerton if you want to do a medium sized gig.

  67. M.... M....

    wow i love this

  68. M.... C....

    this guy is great

  69. J.... G....

Why don't more people know about this man? I'm beside myself.

  70. I.... S....

got tickets for Glasgow Scotland in November. ....ya a a a a as!

  71. H.... ....

    That voice tho... <3

  72. S.... L....

It's a hopeful song that moves through you, lingers. It's like taking one big breath before carrying on to make the most out of the least favorable moments in life.

    S.... L....

    It's very comforting

    S.... L....

    Perfectly, and eloquently stated

    S.... L....

This song is hauntingly beautiful. Sends shivers down your spine because of how close it hits to home

  73. M.... S....

So freakin awesome. Sweet and slow...............................with a point.

  74. P.... T....

    amazing
    Can't get Enough
