Rascals, The - What Is The Reason Lyrics

Tell me, what is the reason for falling in love?
What is the reason for falling in love?
Is it the things you do
To keep from feeling blue?
Is it because they say
That it should be that way?
No, it's you
It's only you

Tell me, what is the reason for falling in love?
What is the reason for falling in love?
Is it the magic key
That opens ecstasy?
Is it a harmless scheme
Or repetitious dreams?
No, it's you
It's only you
Yeah

Tell me, what is the reason for falling in love?
What is the reason for falling in love?
Is it the place to go
When you are feeling low?
Is it the telephone
When you are home alone?
No, it's you
It's only you
Yeah

What is the reason?
What is the reason?
What is the reason?
What is the reason?
What is the reason for falling in love?
What is the reason for falling in love?
What is the reason?

@Ray C I was just going to bring up the Del Counts. I'm from the Twin Cities and they were one of the most popular local bands at the time.

  17. n.... ....

Oh man... My all time favorite tune from the Rascals !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My 45 was so scratched it was barely audible.....

  18. W.... F....

A bit of Ronnie Spector (and The Ronnettes) in this one. One of my all-time favorite summer/falling in love tunes. I dedicate this in VERY loving memory of My Eternal Love, My Heavenly-Resplendent Wife, My Barbra Rose (in Heaven since November 2010). Barb - I pray and hope you can hear this gem from Heaven. It's from my heart to your magnificent heart! Come back for me very, very soon, Barb! I'll be waiting for you!

  19. D.... H....

    1minute 59 seconds Dino!!!

  20. D.... H....

Just saw them last night in Toronto. Dino's style 'Blew my Mind' again!!!

  21. W.... F....

Thanks ZMAN! I remember owning this great tune on a 45. In very loving memory of My Lady Barbra Rose (in Heaven since Nov. 2010). Barbra - you and I were meant for each other long before this world turned -- before the seas rolled. As with many songs, I never had a chance to play this one for us while we were together in this world. I hope and pray you can hear it now (from Heaven) My Eternal and Darling Baby Love (My Barbra Rose). Also, thanks to Little Steven and The Underground Garage.

  22. M.... L....

OMG! I have not heard this since then... B-side!! They were often the better of them.

  23. g.... ....

They are singles. Dino led w/his left hand.

  24. D.... ....

    @paulyyish single-stroke triplets

  25. i.... ....

This song sorta reminds me of something produced by the great Phil Spector in his wall of sound

  26. p.... ....

It's awesome! Does anyone know if the break Dino does at the end are single or double stroke rolls?? I have been trying to cop that part for 30 years!!

  27. J.... B....

I'm glad to learn I wasn't the only one who decimated my Rascals records from excessive overplay and carelessness as a kid. I always had them in doubles, one on reserve, just in case. First I destroyed the vinyl albums, turning them into hissing, popping entities. -- you may as well have been listening to a fireplace. Then the tapes became spaghetti, then the CDs wore out too -- I am hoping the digitized collection won't meet with a similar ill fate.

  28. G.... ....

    @DerGlaetze i believe it =D

  29. D.... G....

    @GuitarOcarina64
Dino is a machine. Many years ago, when he was a youngster, he played for Gene Krupa, who at the time was considered America's premiere drummer. When he saw the young Dino do his thing, he flipped-out in amazement. True story.

  30. V.... L....

love this song esp. the singing!!!

  31. B.... R....

    @GuitarOcarina64 You got that right

  32. J.... ....

Could have been a great "A "Side. Love it!! Thanks for positing it

  33. p.... l....

Collections was my very favorite album I too wore out two copies would love to have one agina..Great great rascals..

  34. B.... R....

The Rascals are the best, rock on 60s music

  35. j.... ....

Bruce Springsteen would use a very similar intro on his version Santa Claus Is Coming Town!

  36. z.... ....

@bobrich1QEDJ5 "Come On Up" was the plug side. It could've charted well on it's own. Some of these 60s b-sides are just as good as the hit songs. Only a few selected artists had b-sided hits...for example The Beatles, Elvis...but many other artists had good songs too that some of the younger generation today haven't heard before. Thanks for listening!

  37. B.... ....

Just about The Young Rascals best.

  38. k.... ....

Great song & band, 'Of Course'.

Anybody notice-the beginning and middle break here- The Who, probably Townshend, definitely copies their riff.

  39. z.... ....

This was a b-side, folks! That's how special 60s music was, it had both sides of records that could be great.

  40. D.... ....

@GuitarOcarina64 Yes and what a Time if you seen Him Live in The Day.Untouchable and Dynamic ..

  41. G.... ....

Dino Danelli is the best rock drummer of all time omg =o

  42. s.... ....

I Love this song. I just stumbled across it on Youtube by the Exiles, but this version is the one I remember. They're both great!
