If the producers would have put this song as first, (over Black Betty), Ram Jam would have sold a lot more vinyl, and we would have heard a lot more of their music. This era, and into the 80's was still a "Cruising Era" all across the USA, (A specific era of the American youth mating ritual, pick em up in your cool car. Watch the movie, "American Graffiti"), and this song would have been blaring out of the cars of the youth, along on almost every patch of pavement strip.

I am not sure what the song "Black Betty" is about, and I don't think many people do. It sounds like a "progressive" choice to me, (which is the opposite of actual progress), to pick this vague song to be promoted, which may have something to do with interracial relationships, (Not sure). I guess what I am trying to say is, you would have to be a progressive moron producer/label to pick Black Betty over this cruising song in the 70's. Progressives are dysfunctional people in the free market, and Ram Jam was another talented victim. This song would have been playing in every car with a radio shack 40 amp booster and 6x9 after market speakers in their back dash all across the nation,---and that was a lot of cursing kids of that era, (picking up the gals too). There is no doubt in my mind, this song on the radio in 77 would have sold a lot more vinyl, and we would have heard a lot more of their music.
