Rainbow - No Release Lyrics

Through the smoke of dancers move
Demonic dirty downtown groove
Visions of the day retreat
Come on baby feel the heat

Then I can disappear
And be at peace
But when my mind is clear
I can't get no release

In the dark the dancers shout
Scream the cry of freedom out
Strobe crescendos in the night
Minds take cover, souls take flight

Oh let me disappear
Set me free, set me free
But when my mind is clear
I can't get no release

Set me free, set me free baby
Well I can feel it yeah
I can feel it, feel it, feel it, feel it.

    Awesome Joe Lynn Turner!!!!
    At his best!!!

  2. T.... C....

    Great song

  3. .... ....

The first rock song that I heard when I was 14 in the USSR. I will not forget.

  4. M.... S....

Is fantastic song, the best of Joe Lynn ....

  5. H.... H....

KILLER TUNE.. GREAT LINE UP, AND OF COURSE "THE MASTER"!! UNFORTUNATELY AFTERWARDS RAINBOW REALLY FELL FROM HARD ROCK INTO TO POWER POP.. FROM A DARK & MYSTICAL ORIENTED AND SOMETIMES VERY MISUNDERSTOOD BAND (IN MY OPINION) IN ITS BEGINNINGS.. TO DIO BALKING AND WALKING BECAUSE HE REFUSED TO WRITE/SING LOVE/RELATIONSHIP ORIENTED SONGS.. AS WE KNOW, THAT WASNT HIS THING.. AND THOUGH ID BEEN A BIG FAN FROM THE VERY BEGINNING TILL JLT LEFT(?).. "THE COMMERCIALIZING" PROCESS OF RAINBOW WAS A LITTLE TOUGH ON ME.. "STRAIGHT BETWEEN" & "BENT" WERE GOOD ALBUMS YET FAR FROM WHAT RAINBOW WAS TO ME AND IM SURE MANY MANY OTHERS.. I PERSONALLY HAD A HARD TIME GOING FROM "KILL THE KING" TO "STREET OF DREAMS".. THERE'S JUST A MAJOR GAP THERE! TO ME, THAT WASNT A "PROGRESSION", AN "EVOLUTION"... IT WAS A SOFTENING

  6. B.... B....

    Such a criminally underrated song!

    B.... B....

    Oh, indeed!!

  7. P.... N....

    This is so damn good.

  8. G.... M....

God how I LOVE this song! Takes me back to the summer of 1980? 1981? God I'm getting old....still love this stuff though!!!

  9. N.... E....

Get over it people this is Ritchie doing the blues i like Blues rock not heavy metal

  10. G.... J....

    Bit of jimi here

  11. L.... B....

id love a rainbow reunion. apparanly thy r waiting for Blackmore to agree smh

  12. E.... k....

Best rainbow song! I just bought this album at a vintage record store ...I miss this music so much. Not the crap that's out today.

    E.... k....

Ed Ch i agree, most modern music is unbearable lol

  13. V.... P....

    🌈 difficult Tô Cure...this is Álbum 👉👂👎

  14. H.... F....

Not by a long shot kill the king, man on the silver mountain, catch the rainbow. Are better songs than this Stargazer is the best rainbow song

    H.... F....

Headly Farquinson don’t forget the gates of babylon,

  15. M.... L....

    Ritchie with his epic riffs..

BUT MAN! Listen to this voice!!! Name and show me one genre he can't take and sing his heart out with. This song is a clear proof of his singing abilities. Amen to this. Praise the Lord for this amazing band. JLT, for me, is by far one of the best singers of Rock, of all time.

  16. S.... A....

All rainbow singers are good but my preference is still rainbow with JLT.Because its under the guidance of the Master in guitar playing. His idea, guitar playing style, dressing.showmanship on stage & many many more was brilliant and distinctive. Many tried to copy him but too bad not even any tom dick n harry comes close to him.And he is the "giant" Ritche Blackmore.

  17. J.... W....

It was always their greatest album. I'd rather watch paint dry than sit through Dio's sword and sorcery drivel.

  18. G.... ....

Love this song, even if it borrows (a little) from Bad Company's Evil Wind.

  19. L.... K....

argh, why is there no live version of this song???!!!!!!!!!

  20. c.... w....

The last Great Mr Blackmore outing......

    c.... w....

Not true! "Straight Between The Eyes" and "Bent out of Shape" came after and were great! Unfortunately it all ended due to the "Perfect Losers" reunion!

    c.... w....

You missed out Down To Earth, David, you no like it, maybe too " English " for you?

    c.... w....

+Clive Bindley Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?????? U haven't been reading ALL My comments Clive! "If I had to live with ONE Blackmore recording....it's Down to Earth"!!!!!!!!

    c.... w....

+Clive Bindley Lol! Yes, "down to earth" was an All British line up! Is that comforting for u?

    c.... w....

Ok calm down David, I just hadn't seen you mention DTE
I think it's a great album and so do you so its all good.
My favourite track is Eyes Of The World, yours is...?

  21. S.... B....

The best song on a too radio friendly album.

  22. b.... ....

  30. .... ....

    Отлично!

  31. b.... b....

    Ritchie is going off.love it.

  32. C.... R....

Rainbow fans. listen to this, it is a version of this band.  JLT singing his ass off. Mr, Rondinelli just hammering. and... Ritchie kinda cares on this. I saw this. we were floored

  33. B.... C....

    Paula Graff is trash

  34. I.... ....

This song always brings me back to that time in 1982 when I was sniffing coke with two whores in a popular Vegas casino washroom. We ended up ditching the place and taking my Camaro out through the desert, cranking this album the entire time. We got real far out into the badlands, and I pulled the car over so the girls could start going to town on me. While they were taking turns giving me herpes, this song played in the background. Right as Ritchie Blackmore started ripping his solo, a large, curious coyote (who had snuck up onto a rock at the side of the road) began howling at the moon synchronized with the music. It was majestic as fuck. I totally didn't make this up.

    I.... ....

    are you Jim Morrison Jr..

    I.... ....

Iconoclastic Uh huh, I think I read that in Playboy way back then too

    I.... ....

I had exactly same thing in dalmatian island of Hvar (than it was part of Yugoslavia, but music speaks for universe. I always prefered horse over cocaine. The best drug ever... YOU STUPID FUCK!

    I.... ....

    +dado zele Fucking Losers!!!

    I.... ....

    + David Topchiev

  35. C.... R....

  36. E.... E....

    !!!!CAN GET NO RELEASE....RIP.....

  37. C.... R....

    SMOKING

  38. C.... R....

I saw two legs of this in the same year; one; JLT all done up in spandex and glitter n shit....apparently for a video or something; but it was good.  RB just did his duties.  Three or four months later ...second leg; JLT in "normal" gear; it was...  a totally different vibe; Ritchie put his heart into it; an absolutely bad asss show. we were right up front.

  39. C.... R....

Rondinelli just bashes the hellout of this. awesome. Let us not forget Roger Glover

    C.... R....

Bobby is underrated for sure! Great track! Great lineup!

  40. r.... k....

    Ritchie is the best guitarist

  41. r.... k....

    greatest rainbow song I think

    r.... k....

Your thought is so unreally poor.

    r.... k....

I agree!!!! this, miss mistreated, and stone cold are my top 3!!! and yes, i'm aware of the dio era and willingly prefer JLT!!!!

    r.... k....

    i agree with all that!

    r.... k....

Definitely a favourite of mine! Nice one Ron👍 individual choice thank goodness we still have it!!!!

  42. j.... ....

i bought this album back in 1980 on tape cassette and it was the first album i ever bought , played it to death and wore the damn thing out then some years later got it on vinyl , ultimately got it on cd 4 or 5 yrs ago having not heard it for a long time and still give it a play every now and then . still one of my fav albums of all time .

    j.... ....

    Cool story! Awesome band indeed!

  43. C.... R....

    when Blackmore still kinda cared.

    C.... R....

+Hywel 4 I don't think I need to remind you  that some of the best songs ever written; are written by Ian Gillan.... assuming Ritchie's Fender was there. And it was. And it was good

    C.... R....

Ritchie wrote the riffs and ian wrote the song on top with the help of the others; sometimes the other way round. check ritchie's interview with alexis corner - guitar greats, if you can find it on the net. it was a radio programme; Blackmore explains how the material was composed. from the sound of it Ritchie never wrote a lyric in his life.

    C.... R....

+Hywel 4 you are correct. back in the day he would let that Fender do his lyrics. hope you had a good New Year friend. see ya round

Down to Earth.....too many to mention....but to argue Ritchie history.....is Difficult to Cure. Im a gigantic Purple fan. RB may be a dick.... but I keep coming back ...over and over and over. I do not care what anyone says.

  44. C.... R....

    again. this song fucking smokes

    C.... R....

I have listened to this song for thirty fucking years. I have seen it live twice. taken in context. this may be one of the best jams of this era. it just smokes. Rondinelli just hammering. JLT singing his ass off. Ritchie putting together some riffs.  Glover; look out below bitches!!!!! this is a smoking song

    C.... R....

This whole album rocks.  I just wonder why this album got such a bad rap.

    M.... S....

I know the unbelievers will always criticize. I don't care this tour fucking jammed

    M.... S....

@Leigh Burne I agree. I just looked at it separate from the rest. I still crank the hell out of it.

    M.... S....

I don't dislike the album, but crap songs like I Surrender and Magic certainly didn't help.

  64. J.... E....

Rainbow is the forgotten band of rock n roll. They had hits but never the recognition they deserved. Rainbow live was phenomenol. They have more than earned their rock cred!!!!

    J.... E....

Rainbow _live_ were ear piercingly LOUD! My friends and I saw Rainbow perform in early 1984, Worcester Centrum, Worcester, MA. I left the venue with tinnitus. It lasted for three days, with the ringing subsiding a little each day. At the concert, I could not hear my girlfriend, even when she spoke into my ear, and vice versa.

  65. F.... M....
