Picture it 1986, I was 12years old in 6th grade, met the most beautiful girl I ever saw, we talked 2 each other every day at school, after 6th grade I went to a different school, never got to see her again ,don't know what ever became of her ,wished I could have kept in touch with her, as I got older I realized I was in love with her, especially when I listen to this song.

I played it for all of the current & past 5-0 taxi drivers & for most to Patricia the dispatcher over the open two way radio walkie talkie, no one would know who was doing that as well as other sounds and noises. Than i would key off the mike, wait a second, key back on and ask one of the other drivers I would choose and say what stations that on, and the dispatcher would think it was that person I choose, he would get in trouble and sent home, it didn't work out in my favor that way all the time, soon they caught on to me and I was sent home, it sure made for a lot of fun , cabbie friends and enemies, I became there mascot. They got rid of two way radio, to computer tech. So now all we can remember is how things used to be, soon technology we so advanced we won't even have to wipe our ass !!! I may only be speaking for myself however think for those of us who remember these, and other classic songs from the 70's era, it brings back so many memories. Most of them are fond. The ironic thing is that we had no idea at that time (I was 17) that we were living in such a great time period for music. It is only since I have become older and wiser that I truly realize how grateful I am for having been able to enjoy such diverse genres of music. Its no accident that the top 500 songs of all time are heavily weighted from the 60's, 70's and 80's.

Gerry was true and genuine talent. Masterful songwriting and memorable melodies. I was blown away by Baker Street when I first heard it, and having lived (if you can call it that) in London I could identify with the lyric "the city desert makes you feel so cold, its got so many people but its got no soul." So, I bought the album City To City and discovered many more treasures. The following year Gerry gave us Night Owl (one of my all time top 5 ever albums) and that was it, I was hooked on his music. Thank you Gerry for giving me so much wonderful music and easing my way through this, sometimes difficult, life.
