Rafferty, Gerry - Cat And Mouse Lyrics

As you crossed the room, I was all wrapped up in my cocoon
When you said hello, I had nowhere to run and I had nowhere to go
With a fool like you, I will say anything you want me to
With a fool like me, I'm amazed at how you take it all so seriously.

People come and people go, and people want to tell you just how much they know
But I'm runnin' out of alibis, I got one thing left that I can't deny
Yes I'm doin' time, doin' time, and it won't be long ‘til I cross that line
Yes the day will come when it's time to go, you better get ready, ‘cause now you know.

In a place like this, you abandon all hope, you just exist
You can't break the spell, well you know you're not in heaven, but you might be in hell.

As you crossed the room, I was all wrapped up in my cocoon
When you said hello, I had nowhere to run and I had nowhere to go.

[fade]
Yes I'm runnin', runnin', runnin', runnin'
Yes I'm runnin', runnin', runnin', runnin'

  1. C.... ....

All lyrics of sleepwalking are most underrated. There is some real truth and wisdom in all of these songs and i consider discovering this album as one of my treasures.

My favourite GR song. Stunning track. Means so much to me. Miss him so much too.

    G.... C....

One of his stand out tracks i think. Miss him too. Thanks for stopping by.

    Never wrote a bad record.
Sleepwalking was dismissed on its release, but it contains some truly great tunes, wise as a serpent is very special.

dismissed on release.i know that gerry took it hard when his work was criticised and i guess it worked both ways.you can hear this topic in a lot of lyrics.but i"m glad he made those records.i think he couldn"t made a mediocre album even if he tried.especially in the first half of his career.

Sleepwalking was quite a dark album from Gerry. He played Standing At The Gates and The Right Moment (if my memory serves me) when I saw him in concert back in 1993.

    Sure did.

@David Wilson Glasgow Royal Concert Hall Feb '93. The gig was actually rescheduled from a previous month (as I recall) as he'd caught the cold and had to rest his glorious voice. Worth the wait. Jerry Donahue and Hugh Burns on guitar duties (didn't get any better).
