I may be projecting, but I always take this song to be about the blissful release of death, after being stuck in a lif(e)t*. It does sound promising. "It won't hurt ever again." "Empty all your pockets because it's time to come home." I have a hard time singing along with this without crying. Sigh. How nice it would be to "hit the bottom and escape."


(I know, that's a different song, but it does match some of this song's lyrics, what with the reference to the belly of the whale at the bottom of the ocean.)
