Raconteurs, The - Broken Boy Soldier Lyrics
I'm pulling my questions from my shelf
I'm asking forgiveness
I'm asking about it by myself
And I want you to know this
And I want you to know this
You're rifling through a bunch of toys
That were handed down to me
Just take all the ones you want and then
Give the rest to my family
I'm going back to school today
But I'm dropping myself off
I'm throwing the childhood scenes away
I'm through ripping myself off
I'm done ripping myself off
Well I'm child and man and child again
The toy broken boy soldier
I'm child and man and child again
The boy never gets older
The boy never gets older
The boy never gets older
The boy never gets older
The boy never gets older
Never gets older
The boy broken toy soldier
The boy
The boy...

Fuck I love this
Heard it once and had to buy the whole album, jack white is brilliant
Twin video with There There by Radiohead
Jack is one of the most underrated musicans of our generation .
This song must be on the Patrick Melrose soundtrack. What a song!
I'm still saying 10+ yrs later that the Zeppelin overtones, the music video, Jack White (bcuz Jack White), and just all of it....This is one of the most underrated songs of the last 10-20yrs.
good days! good memories 💕so young
You´re a genius JW forever!
this song reminded me flower travellin band and i dont know why. it sound like them is it only me ??
Im in love with this style of songs even if i just started listening to them
One of my favorite songs ever... yes, thank you Peaky Blinders for using it, you're a great show, but this has been a classic since the day it came out. Peaky uses all the best bands: Queens Of The Stone Age (the best ever), Radiohead, The Kills, The Dead Weather, The White Stripes, The Raconteurs... The Josh Homme, Jack White, and Yorke/Greenwood Trees of Music are responsible for, oh... maybe 80% of all the greatest music the last twenty plus years... in those those four names lie connections to Queens Of The Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures, The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, the Dead Weather, Jack White solo, Radiohead, Atoms Of Peace, the original score to classic films "There Will Be Blood, "The Master", "Inherent Vice", "Phantom Thread" and many more, Yorke solo work, the Desert Sessions, Eagles Of Death Metal, Mark Lanegan, Arctic Monkeys... even Iggy Pop and Loretta Lynn! And on and on and on...
The female doll at the end of the video looks like Meg...
Deep Purple Likes this!!!
Help us Stranger is a great album, I love it and Consolers, but man, nothing beats Broken Boy Soldiers! So many great tracks, Yellow Sun, Level, Store Bought Bones, Blue Veins. Not a bad track on this one, or any!
Wait this is jack white singing? This is the one song I've heard where he sounds like this, real good job
Who the hell disliked this!
2019.. This only gets better with age. #salute
Well done . Defiantly my favorite track on the album.,
Video so 90s. Song so classic.
3:02 is that Meg? :D
Jack White is disgustingly good.....he's a man among mere boys.
I'm sure if's been mentioned already, but definitely feeling a Queens of the Stone Age vibe with this one.
This is my fav song on this album but I've always felt like it didn't fit in with the other songs on the album, not that the album is bad. It's great but this song is on a whole other level!
This song is under new management, BY ORDER OF THE PEAKY FOOKIN' BLINDERS
From 1:56 to the end gives me the chills every time i listen to it since when it was released. Easily the best Jack White performance, not the mention drums, lead guitar and everyone else. Great track
This video reminds me of the banned Beatles album: https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/615272/Beatles-album-sale-babies-on-sale
As a huge fan of both Led Zeppelin and The Raconteurs, I wanna weigh in here. This sounds NOTHING like Led Zeppelin to me, except perhaps a vague resemblance between Jack's voice and the Robert Plant of many moons ago. If anything, I always thought that, from a musical standpoint, it resembles something the Jeff Beck-era Yardbirds would have done. If Keith Relf had somehow modified his voice to sound as eerie as the hounds at the gates of Hell, that is.
Incredible song, incredible vocal from Jack, and amazing drumming from Mr. Patrick Keeler! As always.....
Creepy Cool Sick freaking vid. Raconteurs! \m/
What the hell is this peaky blinders shit!? I been listening to these songs for like 9 years
only the most amazing show you will see
Garrett Hill in Zero Promo 2006
YES!!!!!
You could slot this song into any early Led Zeppelin album and it wouldn't be out of place.
By order of the Peaky fucking Blinders !!

2018 and I'm here
Good music is timeless!
Gang hit.....gang hit.......sleepy
Soooooooo crazy first I have memorys pop up I'm sure didn't take place cause I was aware of my surroundings and time in space mildly induced paranoia complexe but now crazyness talk way to much of everything......
There's nothing left to ripe off even my retarded ex Kelli belongs to the whores stalking me they killed my mom repeatedly asking mein a lower life form way to stop offering opportunity to stop them from saying sit here and watch......my cousin was called and the doctor once again and opportunity was presented I don't see the world like that I'm the child of two handicappeds and Jewish relaitves I'm supposed to make since of secret desires....of possible futures it wasn't that I wanted them to stop I can make my self watch even the rape of myself......but I had gone to her church to relatives on both sides and it's not like I haven't played god before....but for a medical insititution to emtional target a response so they can say take blame from them selves is monsteroius
The atmosphere in the instrumental is so eerie and unique. Almost gives off a psychedelic vibe.
How am I just now discovering this??? Where the hell have I been all these years???
His name is alive
Is this the lost track off Zeppelin 3 ?
That's the greatest album ever!
No. It's Raconteurs, Broken Boy Soldier
chilling track
donald trump loves the raconteurs
I accidentally deleted 100 songs from my playlist a few years ago
This used to be one of my favorite songs and I almost forgot about it
Classic
Jack has a way with words! love all he is involved with.

PEAKY FOOKIN BLINDERS
one of my faves
Been a while since i heard this. Its still fucking brilliant. 😊
is this an official music video????
Yes, it is.
BROKEN FOOKIN' SOLDIER
Very Led Zeppelin-esque.
Insane. The Jackster.
Это уже слишком, даже для меня
Алексей Муханов годнота же, не ? В 2018 подробная идея в клипе зашла, от покадрового движения до истории наоборот
ottima l'intro....
Reminds me of Pink Floyd's 'Bike'. This 'The Raconteurs' debut album was fabulous!
Second album was even better! That first song - holy smokes!
lol so mutch shit in this shitty ass music n'clip
I just heard this song while watching the first season of Peaky Blinders. I first thought it was Led Zeppelin, but its a band with Jack White in it! I'm pleasantly suprised.
I always remember Zeppelin's Friends while listening to this.
Was DAVID FIRTH involved in the making of this video?
+Gugu Pupu Not disturbed enough to be his. Good stuff anyway.
I dont want to watch deadliest catch, I want to listen to my music.
Lyrics are too close to home.
You fought in the war, lost friends and close ones in it or hot PTSD from it?
Clang_the_Owl You’re taking the song way too literally, the lyrics are very vague and open to interpretation and many people are able to identify with it, there is literally nothing in this song alluding to getting ptsd and losing friends and loved ones in the war.
@Levi Draper I interpret it as many young people who are treated like children but are expected to act like an adult, and it's a metaphor how the child can never get older because his family/parents/somebody in his life still treats him like a child (maybe he has a goal he wants to achieve that they don't believe in or whatever it is). They don't respect him so they don't see him as ever becoming an adult. I think that's all I get from this, but that's just my view of it
He lives near Birmingham
Brilliant it's a shame he didn't stick with this band 🎸🎼🔭👍
theirrrr back
Annnnnd theyre back
The video for this song features a toy soldier getting built by going through an adventure-like journey that leads to a boy receiving the toy on his birthday and then destroying it.
this video creeps me out like the old Tool videos use too :/
So True!
Is it really JackWhite singing this version of the song? If so he sounds very different.
@Bongolongo Little different maybe. But still very jack Whitish
@Bongolongo He quit smoking and cared for his voice back then. It`s not like he does it often.
buenisimooo
122 people have no idea
+Jay Ingram ignorance seems epidemic!!
@Visar Sherifi for sure bro, what you want actual creativity and meaning in music..?" er yea i thought that was the idea"
now they are 183 strong.
i did nt even know that jack white played in this band to and im listining verry long to this band
serieusly!!!!
Woah. I got a Tool vibe from this.
Jack sounds very similar to early Robert Plant here.
Was literally thinking the exact same!
He actually reminds me a lot of 1970s Geddy Lee.
Nah. Not to these ears, anyway. I never got the whole "Jack sounds like Plant" thing. I hardly hear any resemblance at all. But that's just me...
Absolutely!
I always thought he sounded like an old lady here, when I was a little kid I thought that!
I think this song is about bullying...
anything jack white touches tends to turn into gold, but this, this is possibly my favorite track he's touched and that's saying something.
Impresionante... no hay un tema que no me guste de estos tipos... Jack White la rompe donde sea y como sea!
waChed these live once upon time... Mind blown...
nyafiaing myself off, whatever, whatever, I'm not asking fiafiaffiaff, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, tdhe "!BoiiiY!",..., fiafiaffiaff, fiafiaffiaff, fiafiaffiaff, fiafiaffiaff, fiafiaffiaf, ffiafiaffiaaaffoff...
Raul Thorndike idiot
Essa você escuta na bicicleta, tabaquiando, e morrendo de frio.
In "It might get loud" there's Jimmy Page, not Robert Plant
LJ played drums one show
they are making a new record
This is one magnificent track.
They did a documentary look up "It might get loud".
I have and love this album, but really want Consoler Of Lonely too! These guys should tour again. Lots of love for all the members of the band!! ;)
it's scary isn't it?? I never got to see these guys live, thats a huge bummer for me. I heard that Meg White was actually at a Raconteurs concert and she drummed the encore. I think thats super cool... Im gonna try to find that now. Good day to you :)
THIS VIDEO IS TWISTED AND TRIPPY, But I think I like it... xD
Same here... xD
I used to listen to this one in high school! how time flies!
I think he sounds just like Jack White
Uhhh, that's because it is Jack White...
Every rock singer since 1970 does basically
muito bom!!!
I think he sounds likes older Rush, Its pretty awesome!
love this song....
Holy fuckin' shit, is that kid bran?!
(Also, I disagree, this couldn't have been on any Zeppelin album, Zeppelin never managed to be THIS twisted)
this could've easily been a lost Zeppelin track from Zeppelin 1..
