@RachelPlatten, Jesus came to live a sinless life so that he could die and pay the price for our sin. When Jesus died he satisfied the price of our sin. But thankfully Jesus didn't just live and die. He rose from the dead and now if we choose to accept him as our Lord and Saviour then we are adopted into Christ and we get to enjoy our new identity in Christ Jesus. We receive the grace of God.

If Jesus did satisfy the price of everyones' sin why did people continue to suffer, even devoted Christians? What Jesus did has been misunderstood. He took on the sin (bad karma) of the people he has healed and suffered it out on the cross. By doing it God showed us that the road to salvation leads through suffering out our sins. Pain cleanses out your soul. Jesus said to take up your crosses and follow him. Once you give up your life to Christ (get reborn in him) you still have to suffer. Peter, Paul etc. all suffered and were killed after Jesus' death even though they believed and gave themselves up to Jesus. There is no free out of jail card here. It's much easier to suffer with love and purpose then without it, and that is the whole point. Knowledge and hope it gives.
