Rabbitt, Eddie - Rocky Mountain Music Lyrics
Back upon an old dirt road
Next to a swamp full of toads
Was a slanted wood shack with three little kids and a mama
Papa died in '63
To plant those taters and pull up another tomorrow
Rocky mountain music
Fills my memory
Rocky mountain music
Papa, can I hear you playing for me?
Little brother was never quite right
He used to sit on the floor in the sunlight
Play with the dust that danced on the beams in the window
And sister had to cook and clean
'Cause Mama, she got sick and lean
Sometimes I think she just died away missing Papa
Rocky mountain music
Fills my memory
Rocky mountain music
Mama, can I hear you singing to me?
Well, everything has changed today
And little brother, he was taken away
And sister, she married a soldier and lives in Toledo
And me, I'm in a Nashville bar
And I've never been so far
From that old gravel road and the rivers that run through my memory
Rocky mountain music
Fills my memory
Rocky mountain music
Brother, can I hear you calling me?
Rocky mountain music
Fills my memory
Rocky mountain music
Papa, can I hear you playing for me?

I saw the CMA's 2019 today. All Goddess & Gods of All mankind have mercy, 75% crap. I'm a big Fan of the so called Pop-Country-Music of the mid '70's till the early' '80's. And Mr. Rabbitt was & still is the King of that genre. Great Songwriter ("Kentucky Rain" sang by Elvis made by Eddie) & my alltime favorit " if got two Dollars for the jukebox". Eddie where ever you are, make your talented-light shine from haven benieve into the very untalented brains of them so called new- era of new-country-stars. I hope mayby one day i will hear a new song that sounds like Eddie. Thank's for reading, now i split my kidneys out.
R.I.P. Eddie Thank you for the great music.

utah haha this place has it all
One of many songs I listen to.
Ever hear this at a bluegrass festival? So much better without drums.
+doughesson I dunno, I kinda like the drums in it.
Peter Clark Well, there's taste. I'm of the ilk that bluegrass doesn't need drums to keep the beat
Super Country - Song. Danke !!!!!!!!!!!
a wonderful song. great blend of country and bluegrass. wow. fills my memories
+Jack Van I've always wanted someone to play this without the drumkit at a bluegrass festival.Bet they would kill the scores.
I met Eddie in 1978 at the Masonic Temple he was performing and Billy Crash Craddock was playing the same night..I was back stage waiting for my friend and here walks in Eddie.I was star struck he introduced himself to me and we chatted and he was about to go on stage and he had on this beautiful fringed leather jacket he asked if i would hold on to it i was like me ...sure ..i put it on and oh my loved the smell of the leather and the colongn.Miss him dearly loved his music he was a great entertainer..

@Tony Rose LOL. Good joke.
No joke intended. Really great song, even for the King. Such great emotion...but Elvis wasn't a songwriter, I understand. Eddie Rabbit though...magnifico.
