Queensryche - No Sanctuary Lyrics
There's a certain feeling
Known to all who hear the sound
The call of morning rising
You're in a mystic space
Can't you feel the force embrace, the chill of the wind
Oh, can't you see the lies in front of you
Your journey ends so far, and still the distance
Spins round and round you
Now you cry - give me sanctuary
You scream but no one listens
Again you cry - give me sanctuary
Until the end I'll fight and die, to be free
Oh! No sanctuary
But crawling halfway out
There's a void in your mind that you cling to
You feel lost in time, you've got no words to rhyme
No more charms, no more spells to protect you
Oh can't you see the lies in front of you
Your journey ends so far, and still the distance
Spins round and round you
Now you cry - give me sanctuary
You scream, but no one listens
Again you cry - give me sanctuary
Until the end I'll fight and die
Oh I've got to be free

Hands down the greatest singer ever! Not one singer can touch THE WARNING album. He became a VOCAL GOD on Their Debut album! Can you imagine having Michael Kamen on your debut album James Guthrie !!! Even his WHISTLE is EPIC !!
Probably their most underrated song...

One of the greatest Singers ever! Even j
His WHISTLE is EPIC ! One of the most UNIQUE vocalist ever!! A true vocal God
It was me, my brother Matt, Eric, Buckner, Larry and Danny, we took the 51 bus to the Flipside record shop on Commercial and Military we all pitched in and bought this album and a 20$ water bong. Afterwards we went back to Eric's house and we jammed and smoked out all day. The good old days
Their best album, period
TIE WITH MINDCRIME*
1. The Warning
2. Rage For Order
3.Operation Mindcrime
4. Empire
5.Q2K
I'm probably in the minority here, but this album and Mindcrime are equally excellent. I was so blessed to have been in High school when this came out and got to go to every concert in Pittsburgh.
GREAT MUSIC/// QUEENSRYCHE ARE DEEP THINKERS// NOT MINDLESS SHIT// HAIL THE REICH// QUEENSRYCHE THAT IS \,,,/
Heard this album in 85 I love there early material best.
THE "WHISTLE" IN THIS SONG IS EPIC! HE COULD OF WHISTLED THIS WHOLE SONG ! A TRUE LIVING LEGEND 🤘
And the rest are not
THE WHOLE BAND ARE LEGENDS*
Chris it's a quitter
One of my top ten favorites..unmatched still, today...
Harmonies on guitar..deep, almost spiritual lyrics, that make you think about everything in life, unmatched in musicianship and penmanship..
Glad I found this band. Follower since 89.. Yep I'm getting old.but the music never does.....
At this point in my life, "No Sanctuary" is exactly how I feel.
if you feel that then there is still sanctuary for you!
A song that tells a story. Just beautiful
My sister and I use to get high outside my grandma's house and try to decipher the lyrics..what I wouldn't give to get back to that moment
I've got tons of photos over the years.I was backstage at the Evolution video Seattle,July 2001.i still got my pass😎
Tab? Chords?
Should have a lot more likes, as it's better than most modern music, no?
Actually discovered them when I was a teen and they played at Magic Mountain in CA....Went and bought their first EP the next day.
Such an underrated album.
What's amazing about Queensryche is there first album was RECORDED at Abbey road where the Beatles and Pink Floyd,Judas Priest RECORDED there album's.James Guthrie. Produced and Engineered it🤘Also Michael Kamen did the orchestration on it🤘
Wondering why this doesn't have 1M views.
F'n bad-ass
Vocally, the best album ever made. Tate's voice is unmatched by a mile. Rob Halford comes close.
No body makes records like q/R back in the 80’s way a head of its time still 35 years later the shit is fuckn epic
1984. Good times, in a great era, never to return.
........I was 19 when this album was released in 1984......this album has always stayed in my collection over the years in one form or the other..........TATE in his prime............MavericK
His VOCALS on this song are LEGENDARY! He truly has one of most beautiful singing voices on Earth! He creates sounds with his voice that I've never heard sung before!
QUEENSRYCHE /THE WARNING IS THEIR 1ST FULL LENGTH ALBUM.SONG FOR SONG ITS THE GREATEST FIRST ALBUM EVER!! REMEMBER (QUEENSRYCHE)WAS A DEMO 4 SONG! SEE MY POINT
Not trying to brag but. In my. 30ts. I could hit. All his. High notes. And then some. But. The. Future is. My. Past. Forgotten
Hands down the best. Music. For. Burning one. And. Working on old hot rod
The Warning is one of the greatest albums. The vocals are LEGENDARY! Geoff Tate truly has ONE OF THE GREATEST singing voice ever! He can never be duplicated!!
This album (and early album) are much better than the popular songs that are played on the radio.
STORY TELLING
you can't be a fan if u don't know the old tunes.
Excellent album!
pure Tate... the one and only Geoff Tate
Buck Norris agreed
Great band!brings back so many memories
Thank God i saw the original members, everytime they came to my home town. Oh the memories and being still my favorite band ever, i rock out daily always will...
QUEENSRYCHE rules!!!!!!!
Top song by these guys
Another great song off the Warning LP!
I grew up worshiping Queensryche. Listening to this today after years brought tears to my eyes. Legendary musicians.
Fav. band ever
Huge fan here as well, this is my fav Ryche album. It's so personal on so many levels for me.
Omg THOSE WERE THE DAYS.I.SO MISS THE 80S & 90S..THE WORLD & MUSIC BOTH GONE TO SHIT
But they DO listen! and is still cry!
"You feel lost in time, you've got no words to rhyme
No more charms, no more spells to proteeeect youuuu" wow, what a voice
totally underated band !!
in eastern nc with rotten air after the flood this is no fit sanctgaru
Ohh moj Boze... I will never forget the Geoff with Queensryche... fuck, my tears...
Easily my favourite from the first album without reason as each song is great. That's the beauty of a great band
Some of my favorite Ryche songs were these deep tracks that were never played on the radio. The early stuff in particular is killer.
I can only think of Silent Lucidity as played on mainstream radio at least in England at the time!
In Canada, queen of the ryche from the debut album got a lot of play. Silent Lucidity of course, empire, real world all got a fair amount.
Roger Burtnick. BC of Rush I bet!!!
Gregory Dufrene hmmm actually yeah if I remember, Ryche did open for Rush for their EP
Like almost all Queensryche songs?
The Warning and Rage for Order very under rated albums for Queensryche. Great vocals and band presence.
Dan R I liked' the Warning, ... still do
both albums are favorites - nobody does ominous like QR
Song gives me goosebumps. One of their best songs, love it!
why did DeGarmo leave??
+John King Tate was a temper tantrum throwing douche control freak. They kept it quiet for years for the sake of the bands reputation before firing him.
I know little but no smoke without fire. Tate outdid Axl Rose on that front aledgedly!
The evolution of this band has came to it's conclusion. But for the timeless sound of its creation. We all live in it's progression. Geoff isvthe voice of Queensryche! ultimately Digarmo is and always will be the creator
The website gives Milton much more credit. I don't why !
Who's Milton?
Wrong. Check out In this Light. It's a very good new track.
Nick Wegener he meant Wilton
The irony is that this song was originally performed by Tate's band The Myth. It was one of the songs he brought with him when he joined The Mob and formed Queensryche. Trying to minimize Geoff's contribution is wrong. Queensryche was always 40% Tate, 40% De Garmo, and 20% the others.
Another perfect song of this cult band !
simply genius.. put this back on the radio today and it will blow away the shit they play...
Absolutely timeless. Loaded with feeling.
jontayyee3 I've listened to "No sanctuary" hundreds of times over the years and it's still one of the best of all time. I agree, simply timeless!
Love this track!
If you got it it was a hell of a ride! If you didn't I'm sorry you missed it. Ryche n roll forever!
would like to see an asshole rapper piece of shit match these vocals
LOL...you're even going to try and compare the (very limited) range of vocals in Rage Against the Machine to Geoff Tates' in his prime? Delusional.
: - <
i'd like to see geoff tate rap. calm down glenn, you seem to have an anger problem. it's just music man, people blowing off steam, having fun.
WFNK.com , That would be hilarious!
I saw this tour in 85 they were opening for kiss, man did they kick ass!
There's a certain feeling
Known to all who hear the sound
The call of morning rising
You're in a mystic space
Can't you feel the force embrace, the chill of the wind
As it names you
Oh, can't you see the lies in front of you
Your journey ends so far, and still the distance
Spins round and round you..
Now you cry - give me sanctuary
You scream but no one listens
Again you cry - give me sanctuary
Until the end I'll fight and die, to be free
Oh! No sanctuary
You're walking halfway in
But crawling halfway out
There's a void in your mind that you cling to
You feel lost in time, you've got no words to rhyme
No more charms, no more spells to protect you
Oh can't you see the lies in front of you
Your journey ends so far, and still the distance
Spins round and round you..
Now you cry - give me sanctuary
You scream, but no one listens
Again you cry - give me sanctuary
Until the end I'll fight and die
Oh I've got to be free..
Oh! No sanctuary..
Sanctuary...
Now you cry - give me sanctuary
You scream but no one listens
So...again you cry - give me sanctuary
Until the end I'll fight and die, Yeah...I've got to be free
Oh! No sanctuary
God i love this song.
This one and Take Hold Of The Flame are my two favorites from this album. Saw them on this tour when they opened up for KISS.
@guitarist83100 Both are killer. I saw them first on Rage when they were opening up for Ozzy
me too!
I saw them that tour too!
Is it just me, or is that Eddie on a Queensryche album cover?
The similarity is uncanny.
OTTIMA BAND MOLTO SOTTOVALUTATA....
Queensryche stopped being Queensryche when Chris DeGarmo left the band. They have NEVER been the same since.
YES U R SO RIGHT I MIISS CHRIS<3
@***** Promised Land is a great album.....and tour. I saw that one too.
I am I and Damaged are epic songs.
Hitman Hart absolutely!!!!!
+Hitman Hart Umm, yeah Chris wrote most of the songs but Geoff always will be the face and voice of Queensrÿche.
I totally agree!
in the 80's , believe it or not, a homeless man suggested i listen to quensryche.
one of the best suggestions ever. period.
That's awesome
this man was a Prophet..
he may have been an angel
Used to be homeless too for quite some time, sometimes homeless people are a bit misunderstood, its's like the sophisticated and crucial roots of the plant are not being fed, while this is the essence which has not been responded. You might even exist like some vegetation, using only a few percents of your awareness, in a role which only shows the surface. Sometimes people live in the cage of their own parallel universe, parallized by misunderstandings. Sometimes people even live together, both in their cocon of expectations, finding out that the other actually is different from the one they imagined. Loneliness within a relation to me is more painful than the loneliness of the homeless. Kundera wrote some great stories about this theme in 'laughable loves'.
an angel.
@ Anteater---I read that Tate's wife had a lot to do with the breakup of the ''real'' Queensryche band, shady business deals and misuse of the Queensryche name and brand,...damn shame, those guys created magic and ''were'' a brilliant band.
The Geoff Tate I knew and respected died back in 1994. He'll never record masterpieces like this ever again either. Just thinking that the guy who could sing 'No Sanctuary" so beautifully all those years ago is the same uberdouche who attacked his bandmates last year, who lies in interviews 24/7 and claims credit for songs he never wrote...to think he was originally my favorite vocalist of all time in light of all that gives me such a disappointed feeling.
Geoff in his prime. No one could touch him. Amazing voice.
this is an awesome song. i never heard it before because it's not played that often.
