Queens Of The Stone Age - Turnin' On The Screw Lyrics
You got a question? Please don't ask it,
It puts the lotion in the basket,
You say bigger's better but bigger's thicker,
White boy dressed up like a figure,
Drawn inside a toilet on the wall,
My square don't fit at all,
They say those who can't just instruct others,
And act like victims or jilted lovers,
You can't lose it if you never had it,
Disappear man, Do some magic,
You want a reason? How's about "Because"?
You ain't a has been if you never was.
I sound like this,
So slag it all,
Bitter's in fashion,
Fear of failure's all you've started,
The jury is in, verdict:
Retarded,
I'm so tired, I'm wired too,
I'm a mess,
I guess,
I'm turning on the screw.

Reminds me heavily of Tiny Music era STP
Great band. Finally discovered them in 2018.
Want a reason? How's about, Because?
Qotsa is the most talented band, as good or greater than the best bands in the 90's and now 00's
Dude this just takes me back to Highschool and Holyshit lol
Hypnotically repetitive. I bet you could program your very own Manchurian candidate with this... ;-)
“Disappear, man, do some magic.” I say this a bunch to douchey bar patrons.
que som imundo do caralho!
only good qotsa song
0.75 speed
Stoner robot rock at it's finest 👌
I fucking love QOTSA
3:19 i think i lost my headache
What a cool recap of the movie “Silence of the Lambs”
It always has me as "It puts the lotion in the basket."
THE COLORS.....
This is my favorite song of all time. I can't help it.
I have a left field theory that this song is about Queensryche and other 80s and 90s pretentious overblown proggy metal bands like them. The "Aaaaaaahhh" at the beginning is identical to that of the chorus of the Queensryche song Silent Lucidity, and the general riff of Turnin On The Screw is somewhat reminiscent to the Queensryche song Sign Of The Times. I could of course be talking out of my a$$ though lol.
Carbon_based_life_form I’ve always thought it was an attempt to start an QOTSA album like Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
hey i like this
The beginning sounds like NIN
FODA PRA CARALHO.
My favorite queens song ever. probably my favorite song i have heard this year. the intro, the drumming, the voice, that killer riff, the distorted synth and those lyrics. this song is literal perfection! so badass
hey i like your pfp
Absolutely excellent
I just still love it since it came out.... awesome!
Really not a fan of the intro but the rest is a damn cool tune
I love to put this song on, light a cigarrette and calmly walk down the streets. It was made to do that for me at least
That's called doing it right!
The only era vulgaris track i like
VIM PELA JENNI
Only song to ever make me physically dizzy... <3
Dean Ferita’s favorite album
I tried listening to this song with a fever, to try and calm down. Bad idea.
An old best friend gave me this album back in 6th grade and after hearing just this opening track, knew I was in for something fucking amazing. 11 years later and they're still my favorite band. This album stays on an almost endless repeat on my record table. Just like a lot of other Queens albums, I can still run this from track 1 all the way to the finish.
This is my favorite album, but i'm not a big fan of the Battery Acid and the last three songs. Everything else I can eat up all day long. Kudos to you for being a better fan than me.
That’s a super cool story, thanks for sharing.
Josh started delving into the acid-doused, offbeat experimental stuff at this time, but he was still too in love with rock n roll to make a subpar record, the kind he has, in my opinion, made with the past 2 albums (including the latest). Era Vulgaris has some truly rocking tracks.
Totally agree! I absolutely LOOOOOOVE everything they've done up to and including Era Vulgaris(I believe its the last of theirs that I truly love, I love Lullabies too, just cant remember which is the latest between those 2, love em both) but everything I've heard since hasnt got me remotely excited, sadly. Really the 2 that I dont like are The Vampire of Time and Villains. Everything before that is just master work, IMO. I love everything Homme does, even his 'solo' stuff he releases under his name, the soundtrack songs for movies and some of the stuff people have tweaked or mixed of existing songs is incredible too, especially that Queens and Adelle song, that is amazing.
My all time favorite QOTSA song, and one of my favorite songs ever. Perfect!
This is the album that got me into QOTSA.
and the......sick, sick, sick....dont...re...sist :D
Wrong song JACKASS!!!
So disappointed QOTSA are not playing Adelaide on their Australian tour. Sensational band
This song perfectly describes the problem many of the loudest Tumblr users have.
Damn, that slide guitar...
I know I've turned on the screw already.
What does that mean?
Crossing a line that should never be crossed.
Amy Carter I like to think of it as the Screw is already as tight as can be and you just keep on tightening it. Fucking stuff up when it's already trashed, keeping on even though you're already defeated, adding insult to injury. It's open to quite the interpretation.
The best song from Era Vulgaris...pure QOTSA sound!
You wanna reason. How's about "because"? 😃
You aint a has-been if you never was...
These are probably the greatest lyrics Josh's ever written
"You want a reason hows about because?" is one of the best lines ever
Reminds me of Taxman by The Beatles, the way he sings at least.
This song, it's... Like clockwork.
You win
No, it's the Era Vulgaris. Like clockwork is much more depressive
He means it sounds like it never ends. Its melody is so complex and has different stages. That's the magic on this album
this song is criminally underrated
The album is.
The entire album has sort of been forgotten about
@White Chocolate by who? i sure as fuck remember it. play it all the time. qotsa and msi got me through college.
@memluk Many consider it one of their worst, which really goes to show how lucky we are to have this band.
Now playing on Freezknotable: All That's Heavy Volume One (2011) Queen of the Stone Age "Turnin' On The Screw" (2007)
i wanna fuck the beat
filthy draco.....u are dying bitch...
wow great thanks for the songs guys!!
fucking massive mothafucker huge song
Ooh. The bass starting at 4:20.
Not a coincidence. lol
I know right?......
Holy shit I didn’t realize it was the bass till I read this
dat groove
@transfrmpnguinz Pinch harmonics
3:20 and my mind exploded.
Tripped me out big time
the timing is awesomely cool
i also love the lyrics on this album the best.
This is by far one of QOTSA's best tunes. I like running to it and then climbing a tree right before my heart is about to explode.
You were trying out video-edit effects? lel.
always have in mind the beginning of Sick, Sick, Sick after this
Out of all the QOTSA albums, Era Vulgaris is the one that I easily fell in love with...I mean, to like Guitar Hero just because I played the track "3s and 7s" and explore QOTSA for the very first time and love their songs in the process is something I can thank being alive for.
Can any guitar expert explain to me how Josh gets those harmonics during the guitar solo? Is it a pedal?
When you hear that scream 0:16 Maaaaan, what's coming is reeeeal GOOD!
This kinda reminds me of some of Health's stuff. Search "Health-Tears" if you dunno what I'm talking about.
Great song, great album and extra points for the Silence of the lambs quote...
jeejje ke buena muusica caraojjoojojojo!!!! los escuche x primera vez en mi secundario...fue hace 4 años ya ke no los volvi a ver.Sin embargo el sabor keda grabado :)
sucks to suck
I buy this album for only 10 MYR on a music store offer. Lucky.
Great opening to a classic album--can't wait for their new record this June!!
All QOTSA LPs are magic, but this one and their prior one are something really special. Heavy without being metal, love songs that aren't sappy, intense riffs at all speeds. Great band.
Queens of the Stone Age is a great band...
this is my favorite album from them...in my opinion they're best album.. although they have awesome tracks on others too.. but I love how this one sounds.. completely.
This albums rules on its entirety..
1st comment- I LOVE THIS MUSIC!!
