Queen - The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke Lyrics
He's a fairy feller
The fairy folk have gathered round the new moon shine
To see the feller crack a nut at night's noon time
To swing his axe he swears, as it climbs he dares
To deliver...
Ploughman, "Waggoner Will", and types
Politician with senatorial pipe - he's a dilly-dally-o
Pedagogue squinting, wears a frown
And a satyr peers under lady's gown, dirty fellow
What a dirty laddio
Tatterdemalion and a junketer
There's a thief and a dragonfly trumpeter - he's my hero
Fairy dandy tickling the fancy of his lady friend
The nymph in yellow "can we see the Master-Stroke"
Soldier, sailor, tinker, tailor, ploughboy
Waiting to hear the sound
And the arch-magician presides
He is the leader
Oberon and titania watched by a harridan
Mab is the queen and there's a good apothecary-man
Come to say hello
Fairy dandy tickling the fancy of his lady friend
The nymph in yellow
What a quaere fellow
The ostler stares with hands on his knees
Come on Mr. Feller, crack it open if you please

Queen The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke Comments
The high pitched voice, it is Roger right?!?!!
0:52 OMG IS SO GOOD
Queen mab speech?
I had bought Queen ll in 74, vinyl. I gave it to a friend and never got it back... Now presently have remastered CD version (2011, Bob Ludwig). I don't remember what it sounded like on original vinyl. How do they compare ? Anyone? Thanks 💛
Man, the way the albums are officialy uploaded destroys all the continuity of the medleys. This song is supposed to be continuing Ogre Battle, but instead it begins with a long silence. The same with Nevermore, wich follows.
Im a dirty fellow for not listening to more Queen song earlier.
Best 2 songs (this and next one)
all queen songs at the beginning were 2 minutes asd i like it
Been a Queen fan since I was 12 in 1974. Went from Simon and Garfunkel in the 1960s directly to Queen. True musicians. I don't give a damn about their personal sexuality I'm here for the tunes.
I had every album that they made on an actual record when it first came out at one point up until the late 1980s when they sold out and went to shit.
EX whore of a wife stole those albums... another story best left in the past.
I would carefully clean each new album and record it on cassette. No album ever got played more than 3 times. Perfect audio on the tape. Wore out several tapes... I had to break out the album and re-record. lol One of my favorite bands - I still love the old shite. Queen, Queen II... Much like Rush, another favorite... attended every concert I could make it to. Queen never came to my town... sad story. I owned all of their old school records(Rush) , and just like queen they only got cleaned and played to record them to tape, and then played the hell out of on that tape...
I don’t think this is about a sword...
The piano at the very end of this song (2:35) is the same as the piano at the beginning of nevermore.
Freddie Mercury's my dad :) - That one dude over Discord at 3 AM
...i'm crying they're just superior
This bassline is magnificent
I think we got the gist Fred... 😉 Btw it's "stands" not "stares", The "Official Queen channel" lol
Another influence of the painting: The Lastborn of Elvinwood, Linda Haldeman, 1978. Excellent fantasy novel.
I love that picture too. Thanks Freddy
Well the left channel in my headphones stopped working, and holy shit this is wild.
Español??? Alguien?
"In 1843 at the age of 26, the noted English artist Richard Dadd killed his father believing that his father was the devil and that he (Dadd) had been called upon by God to do battle with the forces of evil. Despite being confined in asylums (first the Bethlem and then Broadmoor) for the remainder of his life, Dadd went on to do some of his best work including the famous The Fairy Fellers Master Stroke which can be seen in the Tate Gallery today."

"The Fairy Fellers Master-Stroke" was an odd song but I enjoyed it. 👍

Have to be an Old English scholar to try to figure out what the lyrics actually are interpreted as... Pretty ballsy. Sort of douche too.
For those interested. The song is about this painting. Follow along if you can! Painted by Richard Dadd in the mid 1800's while he was in an insane asylum. https://images.app.goo.gl/eRCGu34cVZe3QSPe6

Roger said : "I never once saw Freddie with a book. But he had all these words about this painting. Fred was like a magpie. He had this very sharp brain but he was not what you'd call a well-read man."

I liked this song, then when I found out it's describing a painting I looked at the painting(and tried to find all the stuff he was describing)and now for some reason I find this song so much more interesting

Queen music is like poetic art....and the melodies are an orgy for the ears
