Queen Latifah - Georgia Rose Lyrics

Georgia rose, Georgia rose
You're the most precious rose Dixie grows
Though it don't seem quite right
'Cause your skin's dark as night

I know you've heart full of light
To the good Lord above
We all look the same
So, don't hang your head in shame

Georgia rose, Georgia rose
Don't be blue 'cause you're black
Georgia rose

Georgia rose, Georgia rose
Don't be blue 'cause you're black
Georgia rose

Mrs. Queen,,you world singer, hat off to you... waw waw waw...

  21. r.... ....

And is that Stevie Wonder supplying the harmonica track? I don't believe it's the other great harmonica player, Toots Thielmanns, but beautiful work, whomever. And Queen is splendid!

  22. r.... ....

Well, go on with your bad self Queen Latifah! She sings these standards with good intonation, swing and style. Lush Life is one of the toughest songs to sing ever and she sails right through it! Sinatra tried it in the studio, gave up on it and never touched it again. Don't believe it, all ye singers amateur & pro? Try it - you'll see what I mean.

  23. P.... J....

The first time listening.  I have been around and I believe that Queen Latifah has about the best voice for jazz that I have heard; YES, ANYONE OVER 70 - she combines Ella, Sarah, Nina, Dinah with a sweetness and presence not heard lately.  Her voice is distinctive and autobiographical.  Wonderful discovery.

    P.... J....

Singing jazz songs does not make someone "singing jazz". You need to feel and interpret the emotion of the song's message. Isn't this a song about misery?
She has good taste in songs, and helps make these fantastic standards more famous to new publics: great.
Of course she can sing. But I don't hear any Ella, Sarah, Nina, Dinah here. Too much candy.

    P.... J....

Wim D. Man How does singing jazz not make someone “singing jazz?” That’s straight up gibberish. This song is about black people staying strong in the face of discrimination. And how does this woman’s smooth, rich voice not sound like the other women he mentioned with smooth rich voice?

  24. J.... M....

is anyone else thinking one direction

  25. G.... R....

OMG she sounds FANTASTIC! Drop jaw ....Fantastic.

  32. 2.... ....

Up until today, Queen Latifah was just a name to me, but while I was getting ready for work this morning this song came on the radio and I literally had to stop what I was doing to continue listening and, more importantly, to find out who the artist was. Now I can't wait to check out all the other songs she's done that are on YouTube, and I guarantee I'll be the proud owner of at least one of her CDs by this weekend. Thanks so much for posting.

  33. G.... R....

Stevie Wonder sounds like Toots Thielimans on this tune. I love it. The Queen is in her territory singing jazz. I sure hope that she puts together another jazz album.

  49. r.... B....

Awesome ! Dana is the REAL Queen ! She can sing anything & Stevie's Harmonica only adds to her amazing vocals. Not sure that Tony Bennett wrote it but I believe he first sang it way back in the 50s ! I love Tony but Dana does the best version ever !

  50. N.... ....
