Pulp - Something Changed Lyrics
I wrote this song two hours before we met.
I didn't know your name or what you looked like yet.
Oh I could have stayed at home and gone to bed.
I could have gone to see a film instead.
Life could have been very different but then
Something changed.
Do you believe that there's someone up above?
And does he have a timetable directing acts of love?
Why did I write this song on that one day?
Why did you touch my hand and softly say,
"Stop asking questions that don't matter anyway."?
Just give us a kiss to celebrate here today.
When we woke up that morning
We had no way of knowing
That in a matter of hours we'd change the way we were going.
Where would I be now?
Where would I be now if we never met?
Would I be singing this song to someone else instead?
I don't know
But like you just said,
"Something changed."

Pulp Something Changed Comments
Still listening - Jan 2020
This song on 1.25 is a whole new experience
certainly peps it up! :-)
Oh my gad, blur, oaisis, the verve and this at the same time...good times!
Songwriting on another level
It's got the lot
The arrangement is second to none
So beautiful
Brilliant album
Pulp could of been massive if jarvis didn't try to bum Michael Jackson at the brits
"Do you believe, that there's someone up above..." How those deep violins tug at your heartstrings. I can never listen to this masterpiece just once, it stirs so many emotions, feelings and memories of how things have, may and might have been. And the key change and powerful delivery teed-up and handed over beautifully by the soulful Gibson - "Oh, when we woke up that morning, we had no way of knowing..." "Where would I be now, oh where would I be now if we'd never met?"
Awesome. Just awesome. Something changed. Bravo, Jarvis.

So beautiful. Who's here October 2019?
It is such a beautiful song. Pulp were so underated. They were so talented
Never gets old. Listening to this is like you're addicted to cocaine or something
My favourite Pulp song and as has been said, a beautiful love song xx

Talent comes in many guises omg !!
This is so underrated. Why do people even see it as a mediocre song?

Pulp's lyrics are second to none. So many stand out tracks, but it's like they lived 15 different life times to achieve their lyrics. So many decent artists write some complete bollocks.
So true, I couldn't agree more. And the music they composed to accompany those lyrics was so grungy but lovely and perfect.
Random friend in the 90's: "who is better? Blur or Oasis"?
Me: "Pulp"
Yep. It's like the other question: The Beatles or The Stones?
The Kinks.
I always say the same.
What a great track!
Le dedico esta canción a mi esposo, mi amado esposo.
Heard this last night at work amazing tune! Just added to my list!
Do anyone know what guitar he's playing on?

Me encanta esta canción!!!
I remember the album, great, I remember the song, fantastic, all the comments about it being such a great and perhaps under-rated love song are valid. But what I never saw before is the video...How was that done: Am I the only only who thinks this looks freakily not 1996 in capabilities? I mean, I'm no cinematographer or director or anything, but the way the camera moves around the band members seemlessly is quite extraordinary to me.
Captures everything a love song should!
I love the bass playing
For me, it's the orchestration. The strings are beautiful. Genuinely uplifting but poignant at the same time.
Magique Pulp et Jarvis.
the sweetest song ever💕💕💕
His voice lifts my ears up to the sky 🎶💕
2019 Hey? 😎
Zbogom, 🐏
Pulp. Mais uma banda a passar ao largo dos açores pois os continentais só ouvem o que lhes impingem na rádio e na télé (má musiquinha)!
My all favourite love song
Flatter than a fart. Boring. Annoying.
Best brittish artist in a long while.. Imo
Growing up in the 90s, I wasn't able to appreciate the talent around. Jarvis cocker, what a genius. I always loved oasis, but as I've aged, this is just brilliant, up there with the smiths pure lyrical genius.
His eyes lol
A magnificent poem x
Loved this song as a teen but now at 39 I so relate to it lyric to lyric. The drummer reminds me of the Oasis drummer. Why is Jarvis wearing a Playboy shirt? Omg, Jarvis is delicious. Am I rambling?
This is one of the saddest songs of my life. Unrequited love....
Possibly my favourite Pulp song - beautiful and poetic x
Waiting to sing this to someone. 😍
To think these super groups pushing music forward during the 1990's were muffled out by gangsta rap in the US. Every so often you could catch a glimpse of what good music was and then you would go back to slapping yo birches' ass or running from da police. I literally stoped listening to music on the radio. Talk radio, Rush Limbaugh when he was a little more bearable than rap got me through.
The very first time I sang a love song to a boy I really liked (well, he didn't know how I felt about him), I chose this very song.
Love this song it’s literally my partner and me 23 years ago
I dedicated this beautiful song to my husband on our anniversary, also I showed to him the poem of Paul Geraldy, "Chance"; (I wonder if Jarvis was inspired on this poem when he wrote this song? )
Me encanta!!!!
fantastico so happy non brits love this too x
Jarvis. What a distinguished and beautiful human being. This is about as cool as it gets.
Still the most romantic song ever written.
Great backing music.
Brilliant
This song is a pure GEM!
I remember playing this song on repeat. I think myself lucky to have been a teenager in the 90s.
Only a South Yorkshireman can say 'just give us a kiss' like that. 😀
I so wish we could go back to this era. We were truly blessed.
Me encanta!!!
My second favourite song of all time. My first being from another Sheffield band, though little known, Longpigs - On And On.
11/2018
I heard this on @bbc6music with Lauren Laverne today for the first time in years. I just welled up and couldn't contain my feelings. I'd forgotten how beautiful a realistic love song it still is.
i couldn't agree more-wonderful memories

this is life, you can turn a corner and experience something nice or a nightmare. but life is about the people you meet and family you cant avoid.. lol.
Ridiculously underrated. What a band. What a frontman. What an era for British music and I was right in the middle of it 17 in 96. Best years of my life.
I saw them live twice at their peak period. One of those gigs was at the Ulster Hall in Belfast - they were incredible. The album they were touring was “Different Class”, but Jarvis gave a world class performance that night. I still love them.
I was 19, lovely time.
Only 14 but my older brother played these guys and other britpop bands nonstop lol great times musically 😊
The finest song about unrequited love.. ever!
But it's not about unrequited love
Let’s not beat about the bush, he’s a fucking national treasure is our Jarvis.
There's not many songs that give me goose pimples, but this is one of them.
He's going to be on Bargain Hunt soon. It's Pulp vs Happy Mondays.
What an episode that's going to be!
can i have the link to that ta!!
superbe titre de son meilleur album !!
34 people don't believe in love.
Pulp is Pulp, The Best!
Back in 1994, I was considered a weirdo because I preferred The Sundays, Pulp and Radiohead, rather than Smashing Pumpkins and related stuff
Que hermosa canción
dejare otro comentario por aqui, es triste ver que nadie tenga nada que decir sobre esta canción.
I love love love love Jarvis Cocker.
Beautiful song ....the love that I lost ..😢
Some songs age well.
This is pure gold
Nice find

This was always my fav from common people great track.
Hermoso
I think Rialto listened to this a bunch of times before writing "Monday Morning 5.19"
Cataclysmic Proportions Big time. Listen to summers over. Like a pulp b-side.
To be fair, Rialto pulls it off remarkebly well.
DJ FACT.50 of Vernian Process True pal. Under rated band.
Such a beautiful song :)
Sooo yesterday...
Tuneage.
Thank you
