Pulp - Bar Italia Lyrics
Now if you can stand I would like to take you by the hand, yeah
And go for a walk past people as they go to work.
Oh, let's get out of this place before they tell us that we've just died.
Move, move quick, you've gotta move.
Come on it's through, come on it's time.
If you can make an order could you get me one.
Two sugars would be great 'cos I'm fading fast and it's nearly dawn.
If they knocked down this place, this place, it'd still look much better than you.
Move, move quick, you've gotta move.
Come on it's through, come on it's time.
Oh look at you, you, you're looking so confused, what did you lose?
Oh, it's ok it's just your mind.
If we get through this alive I'll meet you next week, same place, same time.
Oh move, move quick you've gotta move.
Come on it's through, come on it's time.
That's what you get from clubbing it.
You can't go home and go to bed because it hasn't worn off yet
And now it's morning there's only one place we can go.
It's around the corner in Soho where other broken people go. Let's go.

Estoy aqui porque Tom Chaplin, vocalista de KEANE, mencionó que esta era una de sus 10 canciones preferidas. Hoy veo el porqué. Es más británica que la mismísima bandera de Inglaterra, y eso está bien!
A Norwegian band have 'borrowed' this song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIdtdtUp4RQ

Best british song ever.
Pulp & manic street preachers were the best bands of the 90s by a long chalk.
“Where all the broken people go...”
Went to Bar Italia the other year for a coffee (with two sugars, ‘cos I was fading fast). I love this song.
This reminds me of post-clubbing morning chill out sessions in the late 90s early 2000s. A magical time 😁
One of the greatest albums ever made. 1995, what a year that was! Cracking summer as well from what I remember. The last hurrah for me before real life started to set in. We were on the cusp of the internet age and mass mobile phone ownership. Simpler times indeed.
Zelda Fitzgerald I was in London when the album came out ! I had no money ! We were my roommates and me dancing on this everyday after work ! We had no mobile phone and no internet ! We were just crazy fucking commun people ! It was in 1995 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

How many times have I been to Bar Italia after a night out in Soho? Or a lazy summer afternoon when the sun begins to set? I use to go with my friend and order coffee and smoke Romeo and Juliet cigars.
@Ourania Eirini your comment just made me cry
this is the climax of the Britpop Era
Memories!!!
jesus I've never heard this for 20 year.....
incredible music
underrated song, really underrated song
If they knocked down this place, this place
It'd still look much better than you

I know that feeling only OHHHH so well.
Perfect come down song to what the album was.
yeah ,PULP always had that vibe ,like anOLD place that you like gets a REFIT AND ITS NOT THE SAME ANYMORE ,even though you know it was crap before ,and now its better ,but still you liked it before
Ale, te amo <3
this was really the best of Britpop. And while very English, in sensibility and subject matter, reached the heights of great art by being universal. The outcast story is always universal.
This is a psychedelic pop masterpiece.
+Jonas Butler This is not pop. This is Pulp.. But a masterpiece nonetheless
@Alon Bloomfield Damn autocorrect! But, you're right. This album is in a different class ;-)
Alon Bloomfield
Nor Psychedelic
The Mark of an album is the test of time. 10 years has passed. 20 years here we are. These songs will live as long as our civilisation.
That album is my comfort blanket.
Such a perfect album
So good, so true...
大学の頃こういう女の子がいてね、いくら飲んでも酔わないっていうんだ。

I'm not sure, but you have a point very close to the truth :)
@MJL3764 Yes and a treat to sing to boot. The chorus is just irresistible!
@tidusN1 No, this is way better.

@Pretorta totally agree with ya dude this and radioheads the bends albulm
All the broken people? or Other broken people? I always thought it was always but I looked up the tab and they said Other :S Brilliant song.
@TSEPHTON9 And Something change
la mejor cancion de la puta vida
@TSEPHTON9 probably Golden Slumbers. Carry that Weight. The End :))
I love this song.
Some song are about being drunk or high. Some songs are about hangovers or comedowns. This song is about those blank hours in between, when the party has finished, you're left alone and raring to go, but everyone else has passed out or gone home. You might pass out yourself in twenty minutes, or dance to your favourite song until 3pm, you can't tell.
Pulp are the only band I know to sing about that period between it wearing off, and you going to bed, and I love them for it.
Totally! I call it that 3am feeling :-) xx
Exactly! I don't know any other songs that capture that awful, wonderful limbo between the high and the comedown when you cant decide if youre more alive than you've ever been or on the verge of death haha. We've all go our own Bar Italia!
yasss. but pulp might not be the only one. check out Ode to Ochrasy by mando diao
This is just the perfect song.
@Bakuraptor So have I, didn't think it existed for real until I saw it in my London guide and was like "uh ?". It's a tiny, tiny place, I didn't ask tem if they knew the song cause I figured they must be asked all the time.
I've been to the bar italia they talk about before, they make good coffee there =D.
Brings back memories
x
I love this song
@TSEPHTON9 No
we've all had this feeling out on the piss all night, yet we usually got for a wine place rather than a cup of coffee
@TSEPHTON9 especially when the other songs on the album are as good!
I love this song - and this is also the song of my LOVE - SRH!!
this songs is just me, now, at 5am, oh-lookin' so confused.
@TSEPHTON9 so true ! I don't own any album with three successive tracks that are so highly unskippable !
2:12 to 2:36 used to be my cell phone ringtone :) .
@tinyrebellion
Trust me, you're not the only one!
perfect
reminds me of my raving days leave a dirty dusty warehouse and end up somewhere u have no idea where u are... coming down and the rest of the world getting on with there day .............. u sit there trying to figure out the night before lol
and we all have been to bar italia as an after.... so true.....
i cant be the only one who has a crush on jarvis
mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Best album of the 90's. And it keeps coming back to me.
I think this is song is best at a slower pace, but brilliant nonetheless.
