Someone made the story up
I tell the truth
It wasn't me
Let me in
I won't be long
Open doors
Feel the draft
Someone made the story up the next day

Being here
Is not enough
Another

I tell the truth
It wasn't me
Follow the leader
I can't be patient
I am a shadow
Coming

    Much better than A-side

One of the greatest vocal performances of all time.

In the lyrics section of the "Read More" option below the video, I always heard the lyrics to this part:
    It don't ????
    ????????
    ????????
    Real as a statue
    ????????
    Easy
    Another

    as:
    It's always an act
    Something is wanting
    within
    Real as a statue
    Century stagnant

Craig, the lyrics per John's songbook are: -

    Someone made the story up
I tell the truth it wasn't me
    Let me in
    I won't be long
    Open doors
    Feel the draft
Someone made the story up the next day

I'm still not 100% convinced by 'as dumb is an actor' or 'sent to refract you' though as some of the Pistols lyrics that are printed in the book are incorrect (even though John's happily doodled around them). The lyrics to 'Another' aren't reproduced in John's handwriting but are printed so they could still be wrong but until proved otherwise...

When you say "John's Songbook" is that a personal item or a published item that can be purchased somewhere?

    C.... V....

A published item. It was a limited edition run though and pretty expensive. If you search on 'Mr. Rotten's Songbook' you'll find the details. Basically it's all the lyrics to every song he's written/co-written (including Pistols) up to the last PiL single with his comments and doodles across each etc. Some is a reproduction of his handwriting and some is just printed. Unfortunately 'Another' is printed. If it was in his handwriting I'd be more convinced by the As dumb... and Sent to... I'd say it's more likely than not accurate though.

    C.... V....

Man pretty expensive is an understatement - $1000 on eBay! Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I really appreciate it.

    C.... V....

Yeah the songbook (and the scrapbook) are very expensive and only available pre-owned now. One of the other reasons that I don't fully trust the printed lyrics (and I've just noticed) is that the supposed line 'open doors, feel the draft' is actually 'no open doors, seal the trap' so the songbook certainly can't be relied upon to be totally accurate when the lyrics are printed! I think that John would have had to provide a bit of artwork and doodles for so many tracks that he probably wasn't overly bothered about any slight lyrical inaccuracy (if he actually noticed ;)).

Wobble never returned to these levels of inspiration ... well , none of them did really .

  7. S.... ....

Who made the decision to drop the vocal?

  8. h.... ....

They were smart to drop the vocal on this and give us "Graveyard".
