It's fucking WEIRD how TERRITORIAL I've become with the EPIC music that I grew up with during the 80's!!!! ( such as one of my TOP FAVE bands right here like The Furs!!!... ) I think it's the "access" that this You Tube SHITHOLE sometimes provides and reading how a lot of these fucking ZYGOTES ( that haven't even been spawned yet.... ) think they can "jump on the bandwagon" five minutes after listening/watching a BRILLIANT band like The Furs & other equally PHENOMENAL bands from the era.... Whereas it's taken me THIRTY-FOUR motherfucking years to EARN that HONOR!!!... I NEVER wanted my ADORED 80's "college radio music" to become that "popular" ( although in a few cases back then those bands made it onto the "mainstream" at least for a short while... ) I wholly believe in the philosophy that LESS is always MORE.... Also this "nostalgia" thing doesn't really "apply" to the more "underground" 80's stuff because you're not being fucking BRAINWASHED into thinking you've got to be "hung up" on the "era" is being "created on"... Time is only a fucking "concept" anyway so how can I be so-called "nostalgic" when I'm "theoretically" still living in an string of "nows" and the NOW I choose happens to be 1982!!!...

It sounds like early Sisters of Mercy. Althought the influence was mutual, I think the inventors were the Furs. Both bands were friends and John Ashton was their producer in Alice 7".

The Psychedelic Furs aren't about "The Eighties".  I speak with some authority on this, I grew up in "The Sixties".  Right now, these guys are The Greatest Rock Band on The Planet.  The Stones excepted of course, but only by seniority.

I directed this video and Sleep Comes Down for the Furs in 1982. I lost my copy and haven't seen it for well over twenty years. I'm surprised how good it looks, I wasn't a bit embarrassed watching it. Unusual for the time, the record company let me pick which song I wanted to use, and this was my favorite. We shot on video instead of film, so we could just let the cameras roll and have lots of material to pick from. Big shoutout to Richard and Tim from Bill Davis. Great to see you still rocking!

Filmed in New York City, obviously. I lived on East 44th Street (in Midtown Manhattan) not far from the East River, but this all looks like it was filmed around Battery Park or walking north from DUMBO in Brooklyn maybe, plus Gramercy Park. Yeah, one of my fave Furs songs, although _Pretty In Pink_ was the big mainstream hit from that particular album. That song garnered the band a lot of attention.

Wow, I can't believe this song is finally here. I was about 16 when this album came out. It was my first Furs album and I've been a fan ever since. Truly magical music.
