Protest The Hero - Tidal Lyrics

Awake, unfazed,
Morning light tells of the dawning day
Just like any day
Brush off sleep’s touch,
Clear midnight's haze
There’s nothing extraordinary here,
A flaccid world, unfit, unclear
Desperate for something more
Something more than getting by
Empty faces on the sidewalk,
Listless and limping to a lie,
Of a bright and pleasant future,
Of a blue and cloudless sky
A phantom whisper sounds deceiving
It brings with it the question “why?”
We work until we are unable,
Then locked away until we die

But then it happened
Everything changed in but an instant
A violent burst of brilliant colour,
somehow close and somehow distant
From a whisper,
to a scream,
to a hoarse, distorted laugh
There is no hope of restitution
There is no ever going back

In dreamless sleep,
one ponders death
Hold back the fleeting final breath
Knuckle white, slipping grip,
jaw clenched tight, and quivering lip
This cannot happen
This cannot be
Escape a life of anonymity
to be a drop into the sea,
whose ripple turns to tidal wave
that sweeps the shores it once forgave
But crashing down upon the shore,
the sea is silent evermore

Awake, unfazed,
morning light tells of the dawning day
just like any day.
Brush off sleep’s touch,
clear midnight's haze
There’s nothing extraordinary here,
a flaccid world, unfit, unclear
Desperate for something more,
something more than getting by
There’s got to be something more than this
It sounds so deceiving
Begging the question “why?”
Begging the question “why?”
Why do we work until we are unable?
Why do we work until we die?

A drop into the sea
whose ripple turns to tidal wave,
and sweeps the shores it once forgave

The sun, the moon, the Earth,
conversed and agreed,
the people of the world must pay for its atrophy.
But crashing down upon the shore,
the sea is silenced evermore

But then it happened
everything changed in but an instance
A violent burst of brilliant colour,
somehow close and somehow distance

What unknown face now breaks the silence?

What tipping force disturbs the balance?

Swift and sober, comes a voice, offering a bitter choice

  1. O.... p....

    Retenha a respiração final fugaz
Nervoso e branco, suando e escorregando,
    Retire o toque do sono,

    O sol, a lua, a terra,
    conversou e concordou,

  2. m.... c....

this songs end is the best piece of music ever it speaks to me deep............. fuck you

  3. T.... ....

amazing song, and at my 30´s i really make myself the same question that the song proposes. we are not living in our fathers world, we are living in the world we construct a world that understand that out time is limited.

  4. m.... c....

    this song affects me.

  5. K.... L....

i love how at the beginning the song go quickly at the point

  6. M.... H....

Somehow close, but somehow distant.... :(

  7. A.... ....

"why do we work until we are unable?"
    what is the alternative?

    A.... ....

I don’t think it’s asking about an alternative, more so the meaning behind a life of work. For some it amounts to nothing, you work until you’re unable and then die. For some they build something in that time, instead of just menial labor. To me, this song is about waking up from that monotony and focusing on what you as an individual want your life to mean. And even if you can’t attain your aspirations, you can feel comfort in that you tried and that one day it all washes away and the sea is silent evermore.

  8. f.... f....

This song gave me an erection.

  9. G.... ....

    That's why we need communism.

  10. R.... N....

4:21 makes me tear up every time . so pure and meaningful

  11. t.... t....

[I know nobody cares my opinion, but] OMG, Kezia is so more solid, deep, pure and genuine album... This is such a bunch of complex riffs coming forth and forth (as Kezia does in a different way) with mixing and masterizing headaches, not hating, I admire this creation process, I admire PtH, been a big big fan since the first wave. Sorry man, not feeling the substance. Sometimes pure and genuine strikes hard in the correct time, and will never comeback because that time is already dead, all you can do is creating genuine from present, and that doesn't mean complexity. Kezias's simplicity is glorious. Just if u wonder: KEZIA (tops'em all) > Volition > Fortress > Scurrilous

    t.... t....

Not saying that this is non-sense, just sayin' that Kezia's-sense is much more greater, real, transcending.

    t.... t....

tavo taz I feel the opposite, i think kezia is their worst album, just a mix of metalcore and mathcore with no sense, in my opinion its not as solid as it was supposed to be. This album is not their best, i think this album has to be depure, but is not a bad album.

    tavo taz just my opinion

    b.... ....

  18. C.... A....

  19. n.... w....

Liking this comment before I hear it

    D.... F....

    true. pure gold.

    D.... F....

If you get the chance to see them live, take it, cause they've been playing this song recently and it's even better live.

    D.... F....

Hell fucking yes... The progression of the chords in the chorus is just perfect... The way they use the major to minor chords... Those guys are just genius.

  23. C.... J....

best track of pacific myth. Subscribed them for their 6 months 6 songs doing. these guys are worth every $!!!

  24. D.... N....

YES!!! FUCK YES IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS, VOLITION SCURRILOUS FORTRESS AND KEZIA WERE SO AMAZING I NEED MORE.

    D.... N....

....try "a calculated use of sound"

    D.... N....

oh i have, its not quite "amazing" to me like the others. sorry, it is pretty awesome though. XD

    D.... N....

now i sound like a hater, haha protest is my favorite band i swear!

    D.... N....

sorry man I didnt reply because I thought you were hating. I have been out for like 3 months. Yea I agree, its not your typical protest album but its their roots. cool to see their full progression.

  25. O.... p....

  26. E.... ....

Been a diehard fan for a while, not a single song I pressed skip on until these new 6. I paid the 25 to subscribe a while back and was disappointed by every single track...except this one

    E.... ....

I'm nearly on the same boat but for me there were a few good ones. This one, Harbringer, and Caravan eventually grew on me. Ragged tooth I am completely indifferent towards. It's an alright song but it was nothing special so I never really got into it. I did not like cold water and cataract that much.

    E.... ....

EnjoiSweatshopMoney and how do you feel now? This my favourite too. But at the end of cold water, the build up to PICKING AT THE FUCKING BONES part changes my life. And the intro and guitar in cataract is just wild. Anyway, I really like this band. I posted a really shitty acoustic cover of this song on my page, which I recommend you don't watch. Best, T

    E.... ....

EnjoiSweatshopMoney not even harbinger or cold water?

  27. D.... ....

    So sick.

  28. F.... ....

Rody's vocals are so epic in this...

  29. G.... B....
