Protest The Hero - Is Anybody There? Lyrics
Is anybody there?
is anybody listenin?
does anybody care?
can you actually say
that you don't give a shit about your future
that the world
has been populated
with dumb fucks and assholes
that don't give a fuck
afraid to stand up and fight back!
whoa oh oh
don't turn your back
your a victim of consequence
whoa oh oh
start a revolution
whoa oh oh
just close your eyes
and think of no one but yourself
consider someone else
you've got it lodged inside your mind
that everything is happy
and no one has to die
you've got it lodged inside your mind
when everything is fucked up
now everythings not fine
Is anybody there
is anybody listenin
does anybody care
can you actually say
that you don't give a shit about your future
and I can't understand
how the fuck you see so blindly
how can you justify this fucking lack of humanity
those who care just spit out rhetoric
whoa oh oh
don't turn your back
your a victim of consequence
whoa oh oh
fight back
start a revolution
whoa oh oh
just close your eyes
and think of no one but yourself
consider someone else
Who do you think you are?
WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?!
you've got it lodged inside your mind
that everything is happy
and no one has to die
you've got it lodged inside your mind
when everything is fucked up
now everythings not fine
you'd got it lodged..
lodged inside your mind
WHOA OH OH!

Protest The Hero Is Anybody There? Comments
They did sell out, they honestly are not even near my top list any more at all. Its fine to go that route I guess, but no matter how you spin it you really do look like a sellout when you made this stuff in your youth and your stretching to be liked by newer generations, while everyone who you entranced with this stuff has seen past your facade and moved onto their life, probably going against the grain of the concept of being a raged and pissed youth, perhaps becoming a greasy politician or a bitter soldier, all the while these guys became a pack of Madonnas who really don't have much talent any more for what the potential competition and general desire of music from the public or underground. These rifts were slick, the lyrics were pure, but after they made the big bucks with Kezia I don't think they gave too many fucks about the injustices of the world at that point. This stuff just shows you 'quite before your shitty and stale'.
@Wilt Kitty dude yeah i agree completely. I was talking to @Keegan Penney . Did you tag me accidentally?
@TelosNightOwl lol fuck i thought u were disagreeing with me since that was an older comment lol sorry m8 and ig it was for keegan
As far as musically, they've evolved quite a bit, considering they've been making shit from their teens until now in their 30's. "Selling out" is quite an over statement, they hardly made jack shit from Kezia, Fortress, and Scurrilous because of their Label. They started doing crowdfunding for Volition and did (I believe) a triple over their goal from loyal fans majoritively. the newest EP, Pacific Myth, has been put onto Bandcamp because they just can't afford to be fucked by a label, and they want the fans to essentially decide if they sink or swim. Very punk and anti corp if you ask me.
"Ugh I'm stuck in my shitty nostalgia glasses of the 90's and if I experience change it's because someone sold out".
Keegan Penney they didn’t sell out they hit puberty
This guy just called one of the most humble bands I've ever had the pleasure of having contact with sell outs, lmaoooo
Keep in mind, they were like kids when they made this. I think, like, 14.
+Melodies of Time Straight up prodigies. Love these guys. Not gonna lie, I have always had a massive man crush on Rody.
They were 16.
Rogue Floppers they were actually 13... Nice try though
protest the sum 41
Holy crap, Rody's voice has improved.
Reminds me of a less scum-baggy NOFX
The fact that they recorded this at the age of 13 is just unbelievable. It really shows because they really are one of the most technical bands out there today.
They were not 13 when they recorded this.
They were 16
I ended up converting the ep from youtube to itunes...doh! I'm so stoked to have this though, can't wait to buy the new album when it comes out
thanks bro..yea im just gonna have to start some hardcore googling!lol
Can't remember, but you should be able to find it if you google it hard enough!
dude where did you find the search for truth i know it's only 2 songs but i want it so bad!
Reminds me of A.F.I
As far as punk goes, this is pretty progressive and technical. Looking back, the change could've been almost predictable.
@tehninjadude well even in they're earlier years of punk they showed amazing technicality for their age and maturity, it would be a shame if they had gotten stuck in the same thing over and over again right =)
@tehninjadude I know right? and both are great haha
@tehninjadude Yeah, with prog influence. You metalheads should be more openminded. Punk Legend Jake Kiley has filled up the lead guitarist for PTH earlier, there's a lot of similarities/
@star11scream
Oh, funny shit I thought a long time ago.
I realise that now, of course they have a lot of hardcore influence.
I'd say that they're metalcore.
@tehninjadude
your mad, they still have shitloads of hardcore influemce. This is why i hate you metal heads so narrow minded,
How the hell did you find that? I seriously want this EP :D
sounds a bit like bfmv...
theyre no where near as good without the beards though
wow, they didnt even go to austin yet XD spasato is proud XD
fuck when I was 13 I was just learning how to jerk off!
@tehninjadude But if you listen to this you hear that the song isn't antithetical to their newer songs. Which just goes to show that labelling bands as a certain genre can be misleading.
so glad they went where they did
Funny how they've turned from punk (the antithesis to progressive rock/metal) to actually playing progressive metal!
It's not like this is a simple 3 chord ramones, sex pistols, or misfits song. It's pretty technical for 14 year olds.
Hardcore Punk
Technical Post Hardcore
To
Mathcore
Progresive Metal
And some Djenty Metalcore elements
