Procol Harum - Bringing Home The Bacon Lyrics
Bringing home the bacon,
tender juicy steaks
Breast-fed baby dumpling
gobbling up the cakes
Milk-fed baby dumpling,
Wet-nursed sour purse spot face,
blubbering in the cream
Emperor baby dumpling,
loaded, bloated curse
Mighty baby dumpling,
stuffing 'til he bursts

Procol Harum Bringing Home The Bacon Comments
This song reminds me of the summer of 1973. I was 15 listening to this on the radio in my room. The guitar has this certain sound that sounds like 73. That riff, kinda Mick Ronson a la Spiders From Mars. Way Cool...TJ STRUSKA
a band way ahead of its time, we should bring home the bacon, i know robin did on bridge of sighs
Remember this from the summer of 1973. One of a lot great music that summer. Why aren't they in the Hall. Oh yeah they hate progressive rock. Shame on them
This is one of my favorite PH songs. With a great composition, driving piano and that Hammond organ, the great guitar and finally the extraordinary drumming makes this a classic. I don't know why it wasn't better received.
I'm gettin' hongry.
Robin Trower left Procol Harum over creative differences. The group was wanting to go to Progressive Rock and Robin wanted nothing to do with it.
My favorite phrase...Bringing Home the Bacon
FANTASTIC SONG.

Been getting into this band alot more as of late
Awesome song!
I learned about this deep track classic because a band that came to my high school in '73 or '74 played it. They did a good job on it too. I've never forgotten it since then.
robin trower tearing it up.
free money
Nope, not him
.. It was either Dave Ball, or Mick Grabham .. .. not Robin Trower
T'was Mick Grabham.
This was by Dave Ball..
Is it on, Tommy?
First heard this done by Rat Race Choir at a Yonkers bar called Pemo's which would later be Rising Sun
Bringing home the bacon,
tender juicy steaks
Breast-fed baby dumpling
gobbling up the cakes
Milk-fed baby dumpling,
slobbering, goo-faced, mean
Wet-nursed sour purse spot face,
blubbering in the cream
Emperor baby dumpling,
loaded, bloated curse
Mighty baby dumpling,
stuffing 'til he bursts
i love this amazing band.
one of the best bands.
Detroit fm stations played procol harum every couple hours. and always played jethro tull's aqualung and then right into do do do do do simple sister.
Prog Punk-Rock. Stranglers born here.
was this song ever played on fm radio back in the daY???? IT SHOULD HAVE GREAT TUNE ....MAN THIS IS A GOOD ORIGINAL UNIQUE TUNE I LOVE IT
Was in a bar/club band in the early 70s and we included this in a set, although the crowd didn't quite know what to make of it or how to dance to it. A lost gem. (The song, that is, not our band.)
I kept hearing it on FM, back in 1974 so catchy
WABX in Detroit
Yes, but not anything mainstream. I used to hear it on WBRU, Brown University Radio station in Providence Rhode Island
heard it recently on WXPN in philly.
Actually I was B.J. Wilson on the drums for this tune
Best Drummer ever-B J Cole!
Great gem hidden in FM air play.
That's certainly the first place I heard it....FM, 1974
ah. fond memories. simpler times. listening to WBRU brown university radio in my driveway working on my car
I probably wasn't born though. Thankfully my parents bought the CD back in the nineties and introduced me to their music. It played in the back of my head for so long that i had to revisit the album. I'm glad i did! :)
