Primitive Radio Gods - Can I Lyrics

Can I say cruel to the blue sky?
Can I say cruel to the blue sky?

All our things were helpless
There's nothing we could use now

Can I say cruel to the blue sky?
Can I say cruel to the blue sky?

All our things were helpless
There's nothing we could use now
All our things were helpless
There's nothing we could use now

All our things were helpless
There's nothing we could use now
All our things were helpless
There's nothing we could use now
All our things were helpless
There's nothing we could use now
All our things were helpless
There's nothing we could use now

This was a song I heard when it first played on local radio years back. I heard it occasionally untill they stopped playing it. To this day I remember telling myself" I need to find out the title this song or band playing it". And only untill this year I finally did. WoW!! Excellent song.

It was the summer of 1996 and this song played everywhere. Four kids from my high school, (Forest Grove, Oregon) died that summer night July 20 1996. Cindy was on life support for 5 days, so that last lyric really hit home at the time. Please 🙏 dont ever drink and drive people.

Memories of 1996. Here from Argentina.

  23. R.... L....

David Letterman used to love this song. He would sing it every night on his show. He has such good taste. I don’t know why I just remembered that, and remembered this song, but I’m so glad I did. This song is still a little piece of magic. I’m right back in the 90’s with my angst and my flannel and docs. I miss it here.

  24. J.... S....

24 year old here. Heard this song in a coffee shop and luckily had the shazam app. Would love some song suggestions that remind you of this song. I love a song that can comfort you but haunt you at the same time. Really reminds me of the repetitive motion and uncertainty of life. But it leaves you with the beauty of it all

  49. c.... ....

Am I the only guy who cannot keep a stiff upper lip when I hear this? I’ll be 30 soon and remember this song as a kid. I always wonder who did it until recently. I maybe almost 30 but I may as well have lived 50 years. Through battles with depression through other battles I shed a tear every time I hear this. Please tell me I am not the only guy who does this.

  54. D.... C....

    What’s a phone booth??

  55. C.... W....

When I first heard this song,
the title struck me a "Murphy's
Law", or a take on Alanis's song
    "Ironic". You have change, and
searching all over for a phone,
    you find one...and it's broken.

  56. C.... P....

I'm so fascinated by the album cover. I can't imagine an image which better conveys the mood and feeling of this song. The man is alone on some urban street, possibly an industrial district. We don't see his face, but that is not necessary. It is enough that we see he is looking down towards the ground as we tend to do on a rough day, those days when we feel crushed or defeated.

  57. N.... H....

    This song defines my childhood

  58. R.... A....

    This jam is the shit

  59. M.... M....

Larry The Cable Guy brought me here

@matty I just told him that this would buy me 4 cases of beer. He told me it wouldn't even buy him one case. I love being "old". I'll coin that phrase up on Monday though.

  61. A.... H....

This song will always have a place for mewhen I was younger and homeless and teying to find something to eatAnywaysI listened to it on my alexa this a.m. and I had tears in my eyes before the sun even came up

1:43a.m.-4h night in a row my neighbor has deliberately pushed his speakers up near where my head is and blasting his JESUS talkshow. I was sound asleep. This song is really great to listen to on Youtube since I can't get ANY reception on my regular radio due to his taking over the airwaves which i think is a violation of FCC but nobody cares it has been since 2006 now every single apartment I have these JESUS neighbors BLASTING their speakers directly into my wall-1am2am3am---they deliberately WAKE ME and my Therapy Dog up at 1am2am3am hitting my floor!! CEILING!!!WALL-they have tried to bludgeon me thru the wall the 1st night i was home from major surgery-they have aimed their SUV AT me and my sweet doggie and tried to run us over and screamed-"YOUR DEAD!!!"---NOBODY WILL STOP THESE PEOPLE FROM HURTING ME!!!!! They will not STOP!!! DELIBERATE
    MALICIOUS
    THREATS
    HARASSMENT
    SLEEP DEPRIVATION
WHY WON'T SOMEBODY STOP THEM FROM HURTING ME?!
I am a human being 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢they won't stop hurting me and my doggie 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶 HELP!!!!!!!!

  94. r.... b....

    Today 10/11 I’m 57 years of age.
Primitive radio gods ushered me into my soft late middle age.
After Pink Floyd, these primitive radio gods capture my mood very succinctly
    I’ve been down hearted baby
    I’ve been down hearted baby.
(And will this feeling ever leave my lonely soul? Not until my dying day. )

Ever since the day you left.

  95. S.... B....
