Price, Ray - Across The Wide Missouri Lyrics

My true love stands across the river far across the rolling river
On the banks I hear her calling
Away we're bound away across the wide Missouri
Oh Shennandoah I long to see you far across the rolling river
Shennandoah I'll not deceive you
Away we're bound away across the wide Missouri

For seven years I've been a rover far across the rolling river
I'll return and be your lover
Away we're bound away across the wide Missouri

I have many favorite C/W artists. But Ray Price has always been fighting for the top spot with Jim Reeves in my mind. Ray had class and talent that very few could come close to, much less match. BTW, you'll hear Danny Boy at my funeral.

Anyone who ranks Ray Price and Jim Reeves as the best ever deserves a long and happy life! Fair winds and following sea!

Don't forget the great Marty Robins...he was among the best...

I had the privilege of seeing him in Lawton, Oklahomaa.  There are no words to express how talented and humble (and handsome he is).  RIP.

pattioororke .......WOW...WHEN DID YOU SEE HIM IN LAWTON ?

I had the pleasure of seeing him in person a few years back.  Two elderly ladies went to the area below the stage and each handed him a yellow rose.  He bent over, took the roses, smiled and said. "Thank you." and returned to the mike.  Brushing a tear from his eye, he said, "That one almost got me."  He was so sincere, and so talented.  And so old.  Just like me--except for the talented part.

I think Ray had one of the best voices
    of all male C&W singers.
