My cousin Mylon wrote this song which Elvis, my other cousin, recorded. To my knowledge, they never knew the family connecton between them.

Mylon LeFevre, who wrote this song, came close to dying from a heroin overdose in 1974, then became a born-again Christian in 1980. From 1982-90, he fronted a Christian Rock group called Broken Heart. Afterwards, he went on to become a Pentecostal pastor. I actually got to meet Mylon in 1983 in Waco, Texas and saw him not only at that concert, but also 2 more later concerts in Waco.

The story goes that Mylon wrote this song in his barracks (US Army) and hitch-hiked to where his family were singing in an all-night sing. He told his mother backstage about this song that he wrote, and she said, "you need to get out there and sing this right now!" Little did both know, but Elvis was in the audience, having snuck in during the late hours. Elvis came backstage, with tears running down his cheeks, asking who wrote this song, and now you know the rest of the story!

Mylon Lefevre and Broken Heart were amazing!
I saw them live 4 or 5 times in the 80s, and volunteered as a set crew helper at a couple of shows in Connecticut as I was part of the ministry, Sonshine Productions, which brought Christian rock bands to Connecticut. In one of those instances, I recall how at one of the Connecticut shows, I watched from backstage as Gayle King (Oprah's friend) did a live, remote interview (she in the studio and Mylon on the stage before the concert) of Mylon for the Channel 3 in Hartford, six o'clock Newscast (Gayle was an anchor at Channel 3 back in those days).

I saw Mylon LeFevre and Broken Heart at Warehouse Ministries Sacramento California. After the show I got to say hello and shake his hand.

I really like this song.

Mylon LeFevre wrote this as a very young man. He has served the Lord and made SUCH a huge mark on Christian music. My Atlanta Brother!

He tried to drug him self so he would not hear God calling. That of course didn't work. I think Elvis prayed for it all to end. It did !!!!!!!!!! God took him home. On more pain and suffering no more betrayal from so called friends.

Elvis was a Christian. He really considered sing gospel and tried out. He didn't get in. When they had an opening in their group they called Elvis but he was getting famous and stuck with what he was doing. Rock and roll. I believe Elvis loved God. He got caught up in some sin. But he was never turned loose from God.

My nephew sang this song at my husband's funeral. It is such a beautiful song,it is sung by the best singer we will ever hear.

Yeah,it was the first song Mylon LeFevre wrote. It was probably an attempt to write a worship song ,money was probably furthest from his mind.

This song was written by the contemporary christian artist Mylon Lefever when he was a young teenager. Man did he make alot of money from it.
