I think he would have done mostly gospel (maybe some rockabilly), if he had a different manager (that is if he wasn't manufactured -- after all it was tabu for girls who could afford records to flip out over cute black guys so someone came up with this product -- had it not been tabu, I believe Elvis still would have been successful and sold records but the sound and types of music might not have been exactly the same -- and if he wasn't quite the superstar he was, he may have been able to go to the ball game and sit in the grandstand safely). How's that for a speculation?

I thought my life was over, I was barely 13 when Mami started going to church that didn't allow worldly music. I died and went to heaven when she bought an Elvis vinyl with what she considered was Christian music, this song was in it. I replayed that vinyl so much it would get stuck in the scratches. love Elvis in this movie he was Gorgeous in this movie a funny.

This was by far his best film song performance since 12 years earlier in "Loving You"--the only other film performance that was even close was 1963's "C'Mon Everybody" duet with Ann-Margret. Why? Because this was music that he actually CARED about.

This was actually one of Elvis' final movie roles and he didn't appear in it until almost a half hour into it. The film is loaded with recognizable character actors of the late 60's including Vincent Price at one point and the film had a solid storyline and not many songs.
