I've been shaken, rattled and rolled over by Elvis about once a day, on average, since the mid -1950s...in dreams, of course, but nevertheless quite satisfying. Today, 2019, even though I've had the same guy for damn near three quarters of a century, things between me and Elvis hasn't changed all that much. From John's point of view, there was nothing that he heard on the radio in Liverpool, or on records, that really got him into rock and roll, prior to his discovery of Elvis Presley. John then soon went on to create his first group, The Quarrymen, in 1957.

The original version of Shake, Rattle and Roll, written by Al Bernard and published by W.C. Handy was very sexual. Way back in the early blues days the phrase "rock and roll" referred to sexual intercourse. The term "shake, rattle and roll" referred to boisterous intercourse. The line in the version Elvis sang, "Like a one-eyed cat peeping in a seafood store" is a sly sexual reference to the "one eyed cat" being the male sexual organ and the "seafood store" being the female organ.

Brad rawsner ironic since even Elvis’s version wasn’t the best. The version by Bill Haley and his Comets proved most successful, just happening to contradict your statement about Elvis (although of course his other songs are undeniably throne-worthy).

As you've probably noticed, all this material comes out every 10-20 years, commemorating Elvis' 50th, 60th, and so on, would be birthdays. 22 years ago, they gave us the demos of Fool, Fool, Fool, originally by the Clovers. Now they give us a live performance of Little Mama, also a Clovers original. And I missed the silver box. So that came out in 1980?

The silver box: Yup, that’s correct; it celebrated the 25 years since 1955. For those interested, it is record number EAP-3699 or CPL8-3699. If you find it, buy it (even if you’re not a fan); they only made 6000 of them, all of them numbered (both the box _and_ the records themselves).

Well the demos from Lubbock were released on "The King OF Rock N Roll: The Complete 50's Masters", as well as Elvis:Sunrise. I do not currently own A Boy From Tupelo. But People have posted pieces of the album out here on youtube. Type in Elvis Louisiana Hayride 1955. Or Elvis 1955 demos. Again, I'm not sure not has been released in Europe vs here. And vice versa.

I bought _Elvis: Sunrise_ I believe some 10+ years ago; good to know that’s a good demo collection. If I’m not mistaken, that’s where you here Sam Phillips saying something like ‘Now that’s what I call a pop song!’ during the recording of ‘That’s All Right, Mama’.

I know there is some stuff on YT, but most of it is suffering from really poor image and sound quality; that’s why I would have enjoyed so much seeing someone doing the work of digitally restoring it to as good a picture as you can get. Plenty of old films have been rereleased on Blu-ray, showing the potential of digital restoration.

Cru6ifix V It’s dumb to claim that bands are better because they played their instruments. Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant sang and didn’t play, like Elvis with his band. He’s the king because of how he shaped the market and how he sang, how he helped turn every Cover into his own song. No one denies he didn’t write his own songs, but it’s unfair to compare him to people who came generations later. Elvis started when it was barely a thing, these people started in the 60s and 70s, they had more time to study Elvis or Chuck Berry.
