Presley, Elvis - Mystery Train Lyrics

Train I ride, sixteen coaches long
Train I ride, sixteen coaches long
Well that long black train got my baby and gone

Train train, comin' 'round, 'round the bend
Train train, comin' 'round, 'round the bend
Well it took my baby, but it never will again
No, not again

Train train, comin' down, down the line
Train train, comin' down, down the line
Well it's bringin' my baby, 'cause she's mine all, all mine
She's mine, all, all mine

Train train, comin' 'round, 'round the bend
Train train, comin' 'round, 'round the bend
Well it took my baby, but it never will again
Never will again
(Ooh, woah)

This song contains Elvis's highest recorded note.

Love this, but if you haven't already done so, have a listen to an earlier 1953 version by Junior Parker. Slower version, also excellent.

Heartbreak Hotel was the first I ever heard of Elvis and I don't think anyone had ever heard anything like that before.I only learned of the Sun recordings a few years later and now I think they are my favorites.

    C.... W....

Last Train to Memphis does a good job of portraying those great days of the 50s and my teenage times.

  30. W.... B....

    best elvis ever...

  31. F.... C....

Many kids today would laugh and keel over in laughter because of the way he sang. I hate how ignorant some are, and don't realize that this treasure brought American pop culture to the top. Many singers today, because of autotune and electro-music, no offense, sound like moaning elephant walruses. For your info, an elephant walrus sounds like it is constipated plus found something disgusting. They communicate through a long trunk similar to an elephant's, and that is why they sound horrid.

"Thank you, good night" - Elvis Presley, "If I Can Dream, '68 Comeback Special".

  32. R.... M....

Elvis at the top of his awesome powers

  33. M.... J....

My all time favourite Elvis number. The beauty is in its simplicity. Nobody did it like the very young Elvis P before or since. What a voice. Back in the middle ages, well 1950s, most Brits had never heard of Elvis. A close school friend had an older brother who travelled the World in the Merchant Navy then. He brought back an 33 rpm Elvis LP. ( What's that Dad? ) ... Listening to that was a revelation. See bongo7654's post. No Elvis on BBC then for some clueless reason known only to them . Unlike today when they try to force some sub-standard noise under the false heading of music on our ears. Where did it all go right BBC? Yuk.

  34. T.... H....

I think it was Billy Smith, said to Elvis, in a quiet moment, 'Elvis, you know I am not gay, but you are the handsomest guy I have ever seen' I concur...

  35. S.... M....

Incredibly haunting. The King's voice will echo through eternity. When we are all gone, it will go on and thats how it should be....

  36. B.... K....

Sexiest man to have ever lived.

  37. h.... m....

    stay gold ponybOOOOOOOIIIIIIIIII

  38. d.... ....

The first time I heard this song was on the 2005 video of the contracts playing it while shooting civilians to death in Iraq while driving to work (it's still on the net)...they must have been high on meth or something and to use a beautiful song like that makes you want to cry and get your hands around their necks. I'm glad I found the song, it's so nice of a song and will still be played hundred's of years from now.

Right buddy as one rock historian put it, if you remove Elvis from rock history, it'd be just a dot in music history. That's how huge his contribution was.
