Presley, Elvis - I Met Her Today Lyrics

I told you that some day
If you kept on being untrue
Somebody else would come along
And release me from you

You'll be glad to know now
Your fickle world
Can have its own way
For it finally happened
I've met her today

I used to think I just couldn't live
A day without you
In spite of the thousand doubts and tears
That you put me through
All at once I don't care as much for you
I'm sorry to say
For now there's another
I met her today

How I treasured each smile, each kiss
You gave to me now and then
Well, you needn't be kind to me now
Oh no, not ever again

Just when the last bit of pride in me was gone
Someone heard me pray
And sent me my angel
I met her today
I met her today

Elvis's best singing and physical condition was in the early sixties I love the songs and fame and fortune something blue suspicion all of the early sixties Nashville sessions was incredible Elvis was actually at his best in the early sixties and the 3 dramas he made in the early sixties flaming star wild in the country Kid Galahad he'll probably his best movies those movies are so good and so underrated who is acting in the whole three films was superb early sixties Elvis is often ignored and rather underrated very underrated early sixties Elvis rules

  44. M.... D....

    🎸💞🎸💞🎸💞🎸💞🎸BEAUTIFUL THANKS.

  45. W.... R....

With full command of his supple multi-octave vocal range, Elvis glides seamlessly from the high tender, almost falsetto notes of this exquisite song to the  lower tenor-to-baritone-to-bass notes with masculine timbre and resonant authority that so expertly interpret each lyric of this ballad of love and self-renewal, demonstrating why Elvis Presley - peerless, preternatural, almost supernal in terms of vocal musical talent, and absolutely in a class by himself - was, is, and shall forever remain, in musical lore, the one and only, "King."

    W.... R....

Marvelous, didactic, enlightening are your words, my friend. Thanks and hugs.

    W.... R....

William Ruha If he could only have acted.

    W.... R....

Elvis's unique and magical vocals perfectly explained by you there, friend. There will never be another Elvis.

    W.... R....

well said and so very true.

    W.... R....

Wasn't just the king of rock and roll...

  46. m.... ....

Two great artist--Don Robertson wrote this song and The King made it a standard One of Presley,s great songs

  50. M.... W....

you could live for 1000 year, & you wouldn't get another artist that can sing like that , the 1 & only E P

    M.... W....

    second to roy orbison

    M.... W....

Não. Bem superior a Roy Orbison ou a qualquer outro deste Planeta, em qualquer época...!

    M.... W....

    You are so right.

    M.... W....

There is a purity in his voice that will never be matched a voice that was blessed.

  51. D.... R....

One of my favourite Elvis ballads ... just breaks the heart.

  52. j.... s....

i believe that is the late Floyd Cramer on piano, oh to have had those fingers

  53. c.... b....

    that smooth range

  54. J.... N....

How humorously ironic that Don's big hit was "The Happy Whisler" -- not that it's not a fun instrumental to listen to, I enjoy it whenever I hear it, but when you realize what a fantastic lyric writer he was...

    J.... N....

    I agree with you wholeheartedly...

  55. J.... N....

To continue my thought, even the songs Don contributed to Elvis' movies were a cut or two above what Elvis sang in them.

    J.... N....

Yeah, such a talented man, and in my humble opinion, a great contributor to Elvis's success.

  56. J.... N....

The thing I appreciated the most about Don Robertson's songwriting (especially for Elvis) is both the sensitivity of the lyrics and also that there's some intelligence to them as well.

    J.... N....

Exactly my sentiments also. I would say there are no songwriters today comparable to him...

  57. j.... m....

love this song wife had been unfaithfull several times when i met this wonderful lady pat now my wonderful wife of 35 years

    j.... m....

Same here, only it was an EX husband.  The man cheated with anyone that would let him. He was Marine and that him a lot of WOMEN...I took it 10 years before I just could not do it any more....Now I have a man who has been faithful 35 years..God answers prayers.

  58. G.... ....

    Great. Love it.

  59. D.... A....

    beautiful

  60. S.... M....

    the master.

  70. s.... 9....

I wholly agree with you ,Nico. ...I have not heard a singer to-date with such a great range of singing .
I am beginning to realize his eternal musical immortality . Such a fresh voice that he could have done
it without music ...no weaknesses in his singing flaw .

  71. N.... T....

This is one of the best example's of the purity of the man's voice.

  72. T.... ....

The man with the Golden voice.

  73. T.... B....

Best all time artist. Glad to have grown up in his ere. I have always been a big fan. They don't make them like that anymore.

    T.... B....

Stephen Heath Of course he's making it up lol

    T.... B....

They never made um like that period.. Total one off sadly...

    E.... ....

    totally agree

    E.... ....

best there was and ever will be .. Elvis

  75. J.... s....

    Just love those Elvis songs

  76. H.... T....

Absolutely beautiful song - one of my favourites.

  77. D.... F....

    No one like Elvis

    D.... F....

except roy orbison was better even elvis said so

    D.... F....

cjdj cjdj Thats because Elvis was a nice and a humble guy. He did not think of himself as a great singer, in an interview in 1957 he said that he «cant sing ballads». Roy Oribson was a good but not a better singer than Elvis, this song and many others proves it.

  78. B.... L....

    Merci ELVIS

  89. A.... S....

Forgot all about this song and then found I was able to sing all the words. It was on Separate ways album I got just after he died.

  90. B.... D....

    So beautiful, Elvis.

  91. I.... S....

The last photo in this song, which I also really Elvis so cute :)

  92. S.... M....

Perhaps the best love song Elvis has ever done. I can listen to it 1000 times and still ask for more.

    S.... M....

I share exactly the same feeling regarding this perfection, so pure. I miss words for describing this marvelous performance from Elvis, the Jordanaires and Don Robertson. Elvis achievement is out of this world.I completely agree with those words. This song is the musical perfection on Earth : Elvis and the Jordanaires vocals, the melody composed by Don Robertson, Piano through Floyd Cramer. This song came through me when my father brought me back the LP "Separate Ways" consisting of tracks from different eras and I was so fascinated by the ballads composed and sung with the legendary haunting early' 60's Nashville sound. Elvis encompass a fountain of voices and I'have always been caught by songs such as King Creole, Trouble, I need your love tonight, I'm a Roustabout (newly discovered from acetate), I want you with me, Tell me why, Santa brings my baby back to me, One night,...    and in the same time by songs such as Tender Feeling, Love Me Tonight, Never Ending, That's Someone you'll never forget, In my Way, Lonely Man, Song of the Shrimp, I'm falling in love Tonight, They Remind Me too much of You, Pocketfull of Rainbows, Big Boots, It's Now or Never, In My Father's House,....   I Met Her Today created in my soul the deepest musical-vocal impact.

  93. s.... ....

Elvis, Floyd, Jordanaires and a Don Robertson song....perfection.

  94. m.... o....

No, I'll never forget them, thank you. This song is in my old Lp "Elvis For Everyone" I bought in 1965 when I was 20. I don't need the words to sing it.

  95. G.... M....

And don't forget the wonderfull rich vocals of the Jordanaires. How I love that early 60s Nashville sound !

    G.... M....

I fully agree with your vision of Elvis'out of this world Voice so brilliantly backed by the Jordanaires and Millie Kirkham.

  96. b.... ....

I couldn't have said it better, I am always amazed that this song by Elvis is not better known, I always feel if you were'nt an Elvis fan, after hearing this you would be.....

    b.... ....

I think the same way you do, my friend. Hugs.

    b.... ....

  97. R.... M....

Brilliant song perfectly performed.....love that it demonstrates the effortless beauty of Elvis' voice, and the breadth of his fabulous talent..RMc

  98. m.... o....

And a Happy Combination of Elvis and Floyd Cramer on piano.
