I love Elvis but I can see how he was so mad about doing movies like this and singing songs like this that he hated. He wanted to play serious roles but got handed this... God bless Elvis for keeping with all the crap he put up with.

But the NBC special was Parker's idea. Yes, Parker just wanted a corny Xmas special, but the sponsor, Singer, actually had control over the format, and leaned more toward Steve Binder's concept than Parker's.

Hey Steve Thanks for commenting and entering into the discussion.Always great to chat with Elvis fans.Yes the original idea was Parkers but Elvis definitely defied Parker about some of the production and material of it.Only last week Steve Binder was shown in movie houses saying about how himself,Elvis and Parker were in his office and Parker was dictating how "Elvis wants to finish with a Christmas song,Don't you Elvis?" Elvis said "Yes Sir I sure do" Then as soon as Parker left Elvis said to Steve "F**k him we are doing it our way" Same with the informal jam session Parker didn't want it and Elvis and Steve did.Elvis definately defied him during the TV Special production.No doubt

@Steve Burstein Yes, great tune and really fun film, like Clambake, though not as "sophisticated" as King Creole and a couple other Elvis films. Jailhouse Rock and Follow That Dream were good.

Yes Larry, the Elvis gospel music is among my all time favorite. You can really hear the passion and respect he had for GOD and JESUS when he sang those songs. Songs like Hound dog and All shook-up are great, but did you ever hear Elvis sing How great thou art live? Oh my GOD, his voice is explosive!!!!!

Gospel was where he was most at peace I believe.

What a great video. I was a national champion drummer before I played bass guitar. It would be great if I had a great girl drummer like this playing with me. We'd be gthe best 2 person band doing Elvis songs.
