Presley, Elvis - Good Rockin' Tonight Lyrics

Well, I heard the news
there's good rockin' tonight.
Well, I heard the news
There's good rockin' tonight.

I'm gonna hold my baby
as tight as I can.
Tonight she'll know
I'm a mighty, mighty man.
I heard the news,
there's good rockin' tonight.

I say, well, meet me in a hurry
behind the barn,
Don't you be afraid, darling,
I'll do you no harm
I want you to bring
along my rockin' shoes,
'Cause tonight I'm gonna rock away
all my blues.
I heard the news,
there's good rockin' tonight.

Well, we're gonna rock. We're gonna rock.
Let's rock. Come on and rock.
We're gonna rock all our blues away.

Have you heard the news?
Everybody's rockin' tonight.
Have you heard the news?
Everybody's rockin' tonight.

I'm gonna hold my baby
as tight as I can,
Well, tonight she'll know
I'm a mighty, mighty man.
I heard the news,
There's good rockin' tonight.

Well, we're gonna rock, rock, rock,
Come on and rock, rock, rock,
Well, rock, rock, rock, rock,
Let's rock, rock, rock, rock,
We're gonna rock all our blues away.

  18. P.... E....

It's incredible how his voice swings effortlessly between baritone and tenor, the high, swoops, the barely inaudible tones....trained Opera singers have commented how incredible he was.

  19. M.... S....

He is truly the king of Rock 'n' Roll!

    The Hillbilly Cat.

  23. G.... V....

The 1950s were Elvis Presley's best years by far.

  24. J.... A....

This is a really good version of Elvis. He changed throughout his career, here he was more hillbilly. He was rock at one time, gospel and R&B sometimes, country and pop another time. I liked him best when he wore a black motorcycle jacket, around the time of "Jailhouse Rock." He just had a tough look about him, and that sneer he could do with his hair always falling onto his forehead. He was really a class act at this stage. Young and vibrant. I don't care to watch the clips of him when he was older and at the night clubs in Las Vegas. That was another phase he got into and couldn't seem to get out of.

    J.... A....

I love Elvis Presley in the fifties the young rock and roll Rebel who sang blues rock and roll and rockabilly that's when he was at his absolute best tough cool and Moody and singing Raw early Elvis when he was at his absolute best the motorcycle rock-and-roller tough guy fit him perfect 1950s Elvis is when he was at his best he was also great early 60s Nashville too bad the manager he had took them away from his roots the colonel 1954 to 1962 he was at his absolute best good Rockin tonight is the classic rock and roll song sung to perfection

    "Good Rocking Tonight"
    Single by Roy Brown
    Released 1947
    Recorded June 1947
    Genre Jump blues
    Songwriter(s) Roy Brown
"Good Rocking Tonight" was originally a jump blues song released in 1947 by its writer, Roy Brown[1] and was covered by many recording artists. The song includes the memorable refrain, "Well I heard the news, there's good rocking tonight!"

  72. R.... B....

I agree that elvis was just coincidentally accelerating the music while it was going on up north also.
Elvis liked lots of music. Whipping it up was a accident. he never sang that way he said when he made his first hit.
he really was a hillbilly/country singer who in his own tastes did faster versions of some R/B.
He wsn't playing R/B however as he saw iot. his songs were faster or rather just rock and roll without the name.
It was a strange coincidence of him and Bill Haleys hit song within months of each other.
