This song was released in August 1999 before 9/11 but yes after many other bombings including Lockerbie and so yes I agree that part of the video is tasteless and thoughtless. So I like the video up to 2'24" then it is stupid and careless and so I stopped.

This was made well before 9/11 and Pan Am 103 happened over 10 years before this. For you to hate on the video or song because of events that had nothing to do with it, and weren't even the bands fault is just stupidity, and making an issue out of nothing

And I disagree with both of you. There are plenty of good bands around these days, you just don't find them all that often on commercial radio. Luckily, music is like fashion, it always comes back around :)
I know it's all a matter of taste, but you might like; Band of Horses or Band of Skulls, I enjoy both and I'm sure others can name more...

I like how they didn't bother tuning the guitar for the intro bit and get away with it.

i love the fact that they give so many shoutouts to Brisbane (eg. the orange taxi's in this, the QR train in 'My Happiness' etc.) but they are still subtle about it.

3:08 - 4:40.....one of the all-time great choruses in Australian music....they just go for it....bloody hell they pull it off.

What made Powderfinger so good was their musical tastes (Zep, Stones, Neil You, Beatles) and great talent - a wonderful combination. I grew up in Brisbane, Australia, and the 'finger were on and off the radio for a solid two decades with wonderful rock songs. They're up there with Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil and the Skyhooks, imo.
