Portugal. The Man - Bad Bad Levi Brown Lyrics

If I were a bear, I'd be the greatest of all,
With a speech like god so dark and foreboding.
Standing up tall from the top of that hill,
I’d growl up your fears from down below.
They’re restless spinning around,
Twisting hungry spitting tongues are restless
In the form of the god that’s speaking out...
Speaking out, speaking out...

Laying bricks, growing walls, clicking stone
And the sound that's awful in our ears,
Forcing sprouts and speaking out...
Speaking out, speaking out...
Speaking out.

Like a carpenter,
Like these weathermen,
Like my brother,
These hands they never sleep.
Like the foundation,
Like the frames that meet,
Like these builders.
These hands they never sleep.
Like a carpenter,
Like these weathermen,
Like my brother,
These hands they never sleep.

If I were a god I'd be the greatest of all,
With a speech so soft that loud it would kill you.
Standing up tall from the top of that hill,
I'd shout out commands to down below.
They are restless tangled mess protests burned
And ears that bleed in rivers through the pipes
That heat your homes and families’ plates.
Speaking out...

Like a carpenter,
Like these weathermen,
Like my brother,
These hands they never sleep.
Like the foundation,
Like the frames that meet,
Like these builders.
These hands they never sleep.
Like a carpenter,
Like these weathermen,
Like my brother,
These hands they never sleep.

Like the foundation,
Like the frames that meet,
Like these builders.
These hands they never sleep.
These hands they never sleep.

    *Esoteric interpretation of this song*

"If I were a Bear, I'd be the greatest of all."

The bear enters the womb-cave to hibernate, to digest the year’s experience. To become like the bear and enter the safety of the womb-cave, we must attune ourselves to the energies of the Eternal Mother, and receive nourishment from the placenta of the Great Void. The strength of the bear is the power of introspection.

In India, the cave symbolizes the Cave of Brahman. Brahman’s Cave is considered to be the pineal gland that sits in the center of the four lobes of the brain. To hibernate, the bear travels to the cave, which is the center of the four lobes where the pineal gland resides. In the cave, the bear seeks answers while dreaming or hibernating. The bear is then reborn in the spring, like the opening of spring flowers.

For eons, all seekers of the Dreamtime and of visions have walked the path of silence, calming the internal chatter, reaching the place of rites of passage – the pineal gland – like a Bear seeking his Cave.

Such a damn shame they will never produce an album as sweet as this again after going so mainstream

it's crazy how many people love the new stuff but have no idea about Waiter: You Vultures, Church Mouth, Censored Colors.

they went lamestream, no more emo; so sad I can't even. Gonna kill myself now fmflf (stands for fuck my fucking life fuck)

  9. B.... S....

I know right, I was kind of disappointed listening to their other stuff. This album is the best.

  10. H.... ....

Censored Colors took me a while to get used to. This album made me a fan and Church Mouth made me commit to them to the point I got a tattoo of the Church Mouth cover. :)

  11. H.... T....

this really has a mars volta feel to it, i like it

  12. W.... ....

I only really like this album and shade

  13. a.... ....

    This -is- previous Portugal :P

Yeah, you're right though, their newer albums (like Satanic) have a much different feel too them. Waiter was a really experimental album in comparison. Church Mouth had it's own feel as well. They might take you a little longer to get used to, but you should keep at it! Check out AKA M80 The Wolf, How The Leapord Got Its Spots, and Tommy off this album.

These songs feel really different than previous portugal....and I am not sure how I feel. I'm a huge fan of Satanic Satanists....I almost feel like the voice is too high sometimes... Sorry.
