Porcupine Tree - Pure Narcotic Lyrics
[Written by Steven Wilson]
You keep me waiting
You keep me alone in a room full of friends
You keep me hating
No amount of pointless days
Can make this go away
You have me on my knees
You have me listless and deranged
You have me in your pocket
You have me distant and estranged
No narcotics in my brain
I'm sorry that, I'm sorry that I'm not like you
I worry that I don't act the way you'd like me to
You find me wanting
You find me bloodless but inspired
You find me out
You find me hallucinating fire
No narcotics in my brain
Can make this go away
Have we ever been here before?
Running headlong at the floor
Leave me dreaming on a railway track
Wrap me up and send me back

Another amazing song by Steven Wilson & PT!
Well déjà vu with for a lot of people i’m just totally freaked out about how much stuff these guys have done wow and I just started getting into them last year They prick my heart and sends my mind branching into the sky
20 years!
All -- plus1 -- All
Before, now, to come
Time = t + 1
People = p + 1
No narcotics in my brain could make this go away.
Vinny's got good taste.
If I had a nickel for every awesome song I have heard on stream.
Been stuck in my head since he showed it
if you think his music taste is good, I hope you remember that he's in a band!
This has an odd David Bowie-esque space sound to it, and I like it
Every time I feel depressed and I feel predisposed to suicide, I hear this song, and somehow, I forgive myself for not feeling adequate or normal inside this insane world ... "I'm sorry that I'm not like you ". I've heard this song since I was a teenager and I never get over the depression, but it still helps me fight it. Thank you Porcupine. Thank you Steven Wilson.
Hang in there, the fight is worth it!
well? do i have any requests then? and how do you know?
I think this song is about God.
Vinesauce brought me here
I'm sorry that, I'm sorry that I'm not like you
I worry that I don't act the way you'd like me to
AWESOME BAND
Words escape me - I forgot how good this is.....
i used to think it said ''i'm sorry DAD'' and it made me think a bunch of shit :(
Ohh damn you gave me the chills
unbearable track for someone who trully experienced the pain of loss. it's about year since i broke up with my ex, but... time changes notging - "no amout of pointless days can make this go away". i just dink every given day when i'm left alone with my toxic thoughts and demons. who would think that immensely passionate feeling for someone could be stronger than instinct for survival or healthy desire to live.
i guess many of you came here because of that, so feel free to leave a comment down below.
dzikiben4 I feel your pain. Got divorced after 32 years of marriage. She found another. Never thought I’d bee the one that would have trouble getting over this. It’s fucking painfull as hell. This song make me feel better... or at least human.
There are no words I know to soothe pain like this. But I will tell you what helped get me by- it was a mantra I lived that brought me out of the pits of hell you both describe: What would you do if you weren't afraid? Ask yourself this in all things, and act accordingly.
May you find the alchemy you need to transmute this pain into understanding, wisdom and better days. Good luck.
So what do you expect me to do from this point?
pure narcotic this is different could one of the most UNDERATED song of P.t
all this while I thought it was I'm sorry DAD...😂😂
evilbug555to666 moron
Why so serious ????
I wish this band was more popular here in America. Much love from the states PT!!!
CJ Snyder unfortunately, most people in America are sheep and only eat what’s fed to them on top 40 radio.
Steve Chesney that’s very true man. Very true indeed
does the singing later in the song remind anyone of "Fruitcake and Cookies" or is it just me?
Anybody else here because of Vinny?
What stream :o
The one from just last night. It started off the usual Sunday stuff, right before the camper simulator game.
Animal Crossing New Leaf part 6
He just played it yesterday
2 years after, he played it again and here i am
love the deadpool reference on the album cover #gomarvel
+Yash S Vijay 😂😂😂😂👌🏻
+Yash S Vijay What?
+Yash S Vijay you are rare bro really
go forth my child
Bharat Mata Ki Jai
What a delicious sound from a distant world of great sound and magic.
"You keep me listening to The Bends" is that a Radiohead reference?
@calvin monroe Wow, interesting...
+Vincent Jurg You can hear a major Radiohead influence in their music during this time period
+caprianders Definitely. Both Radiohead and Porcupine Tree have a certain emotion in their music which can just pierce right through your soul. In fact I think Steven Wilson is equally brilliant as Radiohead, and that's incredibly rare.
+Vincent Jurg no its a reference to the medical condition.
@caprianders Wilson has said numerous times he likes thom's song writing
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kh233_SMkR8
are there more songs like this from this band *-*
+JandMcrazy Drown With Me is a song I thouroughly enjoy :)
+JandMcrazy
Trains
Lightbulb Sun
Stars Die
Drown With Me

Also from Steven Wilson's (the front man of this bad) solo album:

no amount of pointless days can make this away...
Good music
this song makes me cry and smile at the same time... I'm in love with the songs of Porcupine tree ! So many emotions... <3
Marion Mataranga Yes
Fantastic Song !!
JIM BOONIE THIS IS THE VIDEO FOR YOU
This track was on 'Stupid Dream', not 'In Absentia'. Video owner, please change the picture!
Music Mastery. However, listening to this here in HD and comparing the same song in FLAC, all I can say this is really horrible quality and probably not how Mr. Wilson wants you to listen to this :)
There's a strange echo in the chorus that doesn't appear on the MP3 version. I do have the 5.1 mix of Stupid Dream, can't wait to try it out!
+Jesper Söderström Mr. WIlson probably does not want us to listen to you either. But here we are.
Why is this band so amazing yet so unknown?
@Ravi Karthik i myself love porcupine tree, but you also need to understand how depressing it can be if you are a person who can get affected by negative lyrics. My bands bassist was going through a rough phase in life and songs like drive home and hatesong although beautiful, brought him to almost depression. It's not for everyone and we should respect that
A mi me gusta gg Argentina.
Well! Now things changed
@Ravi Karthik that's only partially correct. There are many artists/bands who are just as good or even better but are relatively famous. Radiohead for example!
It's not unknown my friend. This is only for limited peoples.
Lazarus - God has helped us, We found Porcupine Tree!!!
Pure mastery of the the song form here.
Such a wonderful song :) Always a favorite of mine
I'm sorry that i'm not like you.
+massparody i forgive you.
Now kiss.

Pure Narcotic, Trains and Lazarus brings summer to my mind.
Where is drown with me;u;?
I'm sad I don't have any more of their music to learn
and the rest will flow
Funny thing, he did A Door Marked Summer and uses the same sound as in Pure Narcotic, Trains and Drown With Me.
And time flies too
One of their finest!
Wonderful track!
Great Song, thanks for posting!!
