Porcupine Tree - Piano Lessons Lyrics
[Written by Steven Wilson]
I remember piano lessons
The hours in freezing rooms
Cruel ears and tiny hands
She said there's too much out there
Too much already said
You'd better give up hoping
You're better off in bed
You don't need much to speak of
No class, no wit, no soul
Forget you own agenda
Get ready to be sold
I feel now like Christine Keeler
Sleepwaking in the rain
I didn't mean to lose direction
I didn't want that kind of fame
(Take your hands off my land)
Credit me with some intelligence
(if not just credit me)
I come in value packs of ten
(in five varieties)
And even though I got it all now
My only stupid dream
Is you and me together
And how it should have been
I remember piano lessons
Now everything seems clear
You waiting under streetlights
For dreams to disappear

I love this crazy clip <3
Porcupine Tree is one of those bands that just radiates nostalgia
Someone should do a mashup with Alanis Morissette - hands clean and this song
Damn, I never knew this video even existed. What a great find! Steven Wilson is a lyrical genius. I really miss this band. So much great music!
I wish they had more videos from this PT era
Steven's look like a teenager !
My favorite Porcupine Tree song and a lot of meaning, my Grandma was very good at piano, me not so much, the line of small hands always gets me (cause for me it's true).
That was terrible.
O mais estranho é o povo achar estranho o Steven Wilson escrever música pop, sendo que ele sempre teve essa influencia nas músicas...
Porcupine Tree give's me always so much nostalgic
this has more than twice as less views than his newest single Pariah.... sad.
Daniil Lytovchenko How so? Pariah is a great song.
Only 46000 views. Thats unbelievable. Feel sorry for the world. This shouldve had atleast a Billion views.
Cool Music! from La Oroya Perú.
THE BEST VIDEO I'VE EVER SEEN.
I did not know this existed. I'm flabbergasted!
Aditya A This is not the best song of PT!
Try Fear of a plank planet/ Lazarus or Arriving somewhere but not here ( Best song ever ♥) ......
awesome music!
música foda amor 😍
This is probably the best song on a great album.
This or A smart kid
Stranger by the Minute?
How can i feel nostalgic by a song i've discovered a month ago?
Lucas Jorge dude, I'm feeling nostalgic and I haven't even finished my first listen :)
That's the PT effect ❤️
holy shit, you're late.
Steven Wilson's pop-driven approach to prog is why I love his music so much. such a breath of fresh air compared to the lengthy compositions filled with scaling and wankery of other prog bands. even when he goes into wankery territory it feels more natural than most other bands.
Steven Wilson can even write a pop song, shame it never got any promotion it deserved to be a hit.
I hope he get with his new album.
recuerdo mis clases de piano
Absolutely in love with Steven Wilson ever since I started hearing his all bands and compilations
PT are one of my favourite bands. A song for every mood you could be in. Beautiful melancholia, and yet pleasant and uplifting. Awesome melodies. Wilson is a genius
Was the song so long that they had to cut out some of the best parts for the video?
Absolutely love this. The video is so clever and the tune is cool too
Gay video. Real song version is a minute longer.
@Dave Thawley deliberate or not is besides the point. the point is that the album version is much better and therefore this video is gay.
+asdf ghijk And that makes it gay because...?
+asdf ghijk Not sure what the video's sexual preferences have to do with its quality.
Maybe he means it's a happy video. Because it definitely makes me happy when I watch it.
wow I didn't realize a video could have a sexual preference!
in the very first second of this video theres a card game being played....does any body know which one??
Great song bit it makes me mad that the line about Christine Keeler is missing (last two lines of the second verse: "I feel a lot like Christine Keeler, sleep-walking in the rain, I didn't want that kind of pressure, I didn't want that kind of fame."
I concur.
I think that's from a different song on this album.
Garylasereyes nah its Piano Lessons
Nope. That's "Piano Lessons"
Source: I literally listen to that song everyday. XD
Too bad PT didn't make this video the FULL 4min+ version. I hate edits.
I agree, but it doesn kind of add to the irony of the song, doesn't it?
qqqq buena
Stupid dream begins a new age for PT. My favourite song is Dont' Hate Me and A Smart Kid.
I love the video, the song is not one of my favourites of pt but it's i love it too
Porcupine Tree's attempt of a pop song, with all the "elements" of a "radio hit". Better than a lot of the radio hits out there. Good guitar, great vocal harmony. Love the "fade out" bit. Hehe... Thank Kscope for putting up a high pic quality one.
This song will rank 30 th on my Porcupine tree playlist. Not because its bad, actually its great. It's because this Band has the power to create 29 more songs that sounds better than this. That's how awesome they are.
not really the cream. I mean this song the whole Stupid Dream album was a masterpiece. Though it might be head to head with LightBulb Sun
another amazing piece of art.
I've been wanting to see a live version of this song for a while. The music video is almost as good though
This song has sooo much meaning packed into it
Calidad oficial del video! Saludos desde México (:
I remember this. It's a bonus on the deluxe edition of Stupid Dream and absolutely ancient, but it's so good. Definitely the cream of early Porcupine Tree's crop.
I had never seen this! Amazing!
