Pop, Iggy - Tonight Lyrics
I saw my baby
She was turning blue
Oh, I knew that soon, her
Young life was through
Down by her bed
And these are the words
To her I said
Everything will be all right, Tonight [x2]
No one moves
No one talks
No one thinks
No one walks, Tonight
Everyone will be all right, Tonight [x2]
No one moves
No one talks
No one thinks
No one walks, Tonight, Tonight
I am gonna love her to the end [x2]
I will love her 'til I die
I will see her in the sky...Tonight [x5]

Pop, Iggy Tonight Comments
This is super cool.
Was going to say IP oscillated between singing like Bowie and Jagger, as that was actually Bowie looks like it was mostly all his usual Jagger impersonation after all. Not too keen on his name or face, though it could be worth going through all his studio albums from the Stooges onwards just to check him out. To See what all the Iggy Pop fuss was about.
Having heard this track 3 times IT WAS him later on singing like Bowie, with Bowie occasionally chirping up in the background. It was initially him singing like Jagger then he went into Bowie mode. Mind you it could have also been a bit of a friendly homage to Bowie, yet how embarrassed Bowie must have felt. Still onwards to the next track and album.
Not fantastically impressed so far, not too bad though. Was it the degeneracy that attracted the fans. The whole Lou Reed, druggy, Iggy Pop, emasculated Bisexual Bowie type of sordid morally depraved image and scene, with the music output thrown in occasionally to keep them interested & roped in.
Such a classic
I heard this song first as the Bowie-Turner version, and I loved it, cause it had such a happy vibe. Now I found out about the original wich is about a heroin overdose, and my world fell apart.
FUCK OPIATES!
Check out my crappy cover :)

Hi!
Thanks
Alright, I have a pretty good job
It's, it's good to have a job
But no matter what job you have
Do you kind of find after you get it
Oh shit! There are some shit that goes through this that I didn't think of
A little game play, a little politics, a little evil
No rest, constant stress
That's why I say sometimes
Pity there isn't an original video to watch yet but at least you did a good job postn the song and record cover, THANKS bloodbeat1. I prefer David Bowie/Ziggy Stardust solo version of this song. Iggys version is hauntingly good tho
who the fuck is Chima? and fuck you anyway!
Kills me every time.
Chasing the dragon
I reckon this version is more emotional d'ya think?
It's not yours so why do you sell an ad on it
hiw could any version b better than the original?
Even though Iggy was the original artist of this song, he sounds like David Bowie.
You guys did great at the concert in salt lake
Man a girl turning blue but this one of me fav tunes of a song of real LOVE .
Thank you bloodbeat1, i enjoy it!!!!
I want a fucking VST preset with those detuned delayed synths in this tune and in Sound and Vision.
Thank you
I think... this is my favorite Iggy Pop song!
Adam .Foster me too! !!
Lust For Life, His best album, and you can clearly hear Bowie is the produer.
You van clearly hear David Bowie.
Not sure... a man who beats his wife till she is blue or a man who watches his wife getting more and more and more f'd up on drugs till she turns blue. Then in his desperate struggle to normalized the situation the protagonist sings this romantic song which innevitably comes out screwed up. I.e. 'we are going to have a fantastic time but we are going to die today.... tonight.'
I believe it's supposed to be her dying from OD'ing on Heroin.
@enossified yup!
Great song!!! shared to the Netshows Radio "Program 29" Playlist on youtube
i really hate 3:41
Iggy's voice is probably sexier to women than Barry White's was.
amazing album
I prefer David Bowie ' s version. This one seems to have no emotion behind it. The latter one seems much more somber
You've got it the other way around. All Bowie ever did was rip off Iggy...and Lou Reed...and Marc Bolan......and Syd Barrett....etc etc etc
Idiot. Iggy Pop wouldn't have even recorded this album (or The idiot) without Bowie. He acknowledges that himself.
The version with Tina Turner and David Bowie is garbage.
This, is absolutely excellent. Total masterpiece.
+Graviton1066 okay this fact just made my day thank you
Yakovlievich teu cu
love them both man, whatever
Are you crazy ?! Tina and David were excellent!
Yakovlievich I agree completely
Everything will be alright tonight...
Bowie did it great there
We're missing you, Ziggy
Great song,so sad,sad,sad song.
This song gives me goosebumps!!!
he turns her pain into.....something right on! FUCK i wish this was a film.
One of my fave Iggy songs off one of my all-time fave albums. Good stuff!
Vans propeller brought me here
this album is so fucking good
+NeppyNeptune 'Lust For Life' belongs on the top ten or best 100 hundred lists. And it's also one of David Bowie's finest works.
@***** Well, I did mention that it is one of Bowie's finest works, if you read what I wrote.
@***** Seeing that I used the word "also" I don't see how it can read that way at all.
+Yakovlievich I recently found out that when Iggy and David wrote the song David was playing a ukulele.
The Rhythm Guitar is an unsung hero of this song IMHO.
Graviton1066 Carlos Alomar brought me here!
The drums are fantastic too
@JugaJuga14 Drums - Hunt Sales. Bass - Tony Sales.

A lot of people came here because of Chima Ferguson... What about Sylvain Tognelli?
Ah yes
Chima brought me here #VansPropeller
I personally enjoy this version better. Has an edgier sound to it than Bowie/Tina. Hey you have Bowie on backgrounds so it can't be all that bad!
It's the best version of the song, in my opinion.
Checho Kiko Bowie is the Bonus :-)
Bowie co-wrote it, produced it, and sang back up. So he's all over it. And yes this is the best version, by far.
This is much better than tina's reggae version. It is raw with the perfect raw voice of Iggy. It's the original and unmatched version. It's pure Rock.
It's also more intimate. Iggy wrote it about the loss of his girlfriend Esther Friedman to a heroin overdose. As a HUGE Bowie fan I feel conflicted that I disapprove of him and Tina taking such extreme artistic liberties covering any song about someone else's deeply personal tragedy like that.
Think Esther Friedman is still alive. At least she was in 2016.
Great Song, but Tina better...
you know that Iggy maked this song?!
@sasse Brasse
I know.
get out
This version is about a heroin death. The boiwe/tina version is nice in its own way, but its not the same thing
Whoopwhoop!
Love this song but this is the most pretentious comment ever. Started out decent, then "amateruish synths and screaming guitar solos" makes you sound like a wanna be critic. Stop analyzing and just enjoy it. Queef
"Amateurish synths and screaming guitar solos" is a characterization Iggy would agree with, and is in fact a huge element of what makes the song great. It's the drama, man!
iggy and owie did many songs together!
so good.
you can actually see and hear Bowie throughout the whole song.
Does anyone know where tabs can be found for this? All i can find is chords. Thanks.
im am crying my eyes out at the moment...........
TheKenney81
No. It's no fucking glam!
this song gives me hope
hell love her till he dies ( his whole life whether that be 20 or 100 years ) and when she dies hell see in the sky ( heaven ) .. its pretty self explanatory dude, i mean no offense by that either. peace.
Bowie and Iggy :)
One of the greatest albums ever. And this version is a whole lot better than Bowie's. This is the original version as well. Iggy rules!
Beautiful song that gives me the death gasps every time.
Its a matter of opinion.
I personally think Iggy's version of China Girl is better.
Tonight...42 years ago...I was getting ready to be born!!!
w/ all due respect to Mr Bowie...this version is superior to the reggae version appearing on his 1984 album by the same name, IMHO... and yes the guitar solo is awesome regardless of which guitarist is playing it. It is hard to tell, both are excellent , but i'd guess it was Gardiner..i don't believe Carlos was on this album.
killer tune. killer guitar solo
Some people present at the sessions say Ricky Gardiner did the solo, but it's hard to tell. Alomar did play on it as well (probably the clean funky riff in the verses). The backing vocals are also attributed to the Sales Brothers, who were amazing singers who had no problem singing LOUD! The backing vocals at the end from 3:19 on are by them with almost none of Bowie's voice in the mix.
feh. there is nothing more romantic than the street hassle of a hot chick turning blue
thank you so much!!! this is so hard to find even to download this song! ahhh i loveit thanks again!
The time of David Bowie - Iggy Pop collaboration brought a lot of inspiration to both of them. I am really devoted to Bowie, but this song is fucking great in Iggy's performance.
iv been looking for this song for ages ,and i wasn,t disapointed
Absolutely brilliant song, each time again!!!
didn't want to mess with the 42 ratings but had to 5 this. thanks for upload!
Yea, I like the 'synth'-sound of this album far more than the pure, typical well-produced 80s synths that were popular later in the mainstream.
I read a review which says that Tonight containted Gardner 'best guitar' or something similar, so I guess it's his solo. A fantastic song. I love Bowie's backing vocals here.
The vocals of Bowie and Iggy combined, backed by those amateurish synths and screaming guitar solo here is pure heaven.
Pure heaven......That`s IT
cool, been looking for this one and couldn't find it before. Thanks!
Shame it's not the full song. Even wose is that I lost the cd but have the cash with Iggy's gorgeous face adding insult to my misery.
This is in fact the complete song as it appeared on Lust for Life.
