Police, The - Friends Lyrics
I likes to eat my friends and make no bones about it
I likes to eat my friends, I couldn't do without it
Ain't a man or poet, friend, I know just how you'll taste
Your limbs go sliding down my throat and never go to waste
I know your life was not in vain when digestion is commencing
Consider this a celebration and the deepest pact of friends
And I hope that you will dine on me when I come to an end
Friends...
Even friends may come to you with a new found revelation
But think of it as life renewed and not their termination
'To know you is to eat you" should be the code of lovers
Death brings the highest act of love preserved for one another
Friends...
People say that what you are is only what you eat
And my friends become a part of me, oh well its then that life's complete
To know you is to eat you, the act of love supreme
Each one of us inside himself can appetize the dream
Friends...

Police, The Friends Comments
B side off de do do Dada
I don't know why but I think for some reason this song should be on Stranger Things soundtrack
This song comes to mind every time I watch Homer Simpson eating his pet lobster, Pinchy.
Hannibal and sung by Hopkinks. Perfect.
What kind of accent is that?
One of the ooo-aaarghh ones. From his neck of the woods, per chance?
Slice, dice and serve it @2:25!
shouldve been this over voices in my head on zenyatta
Not in a million years - Voices in my head is a funky, killer jam! This should have replaced The other way of stopping instead, that is the greatest stinker on Zenyatta.
0:47 nut when that riff comes in.
I Grok this song in it's entirety
I dedicate this song to Armin Meiwes..............
Love it andy summers on vocals sting backing and the best drummer in the world stewart copland on drums legend s
To know you is to eat you....... Fucking great shit.
The Policem1st three albums were so unique, ghost in the machine was exactly that...showing their awareness of the coming modern technology right at its onset... Then Sting got all self centered in Synchronicity.....that was the beginning of the end of the tightest three musician band of the late seventies and eighties.
Imagine what kind of show it would be if this was the theme song for Friends.
"Why does Ross, the largest Friend, simply not EAT the other Friends?"
"Perhaps they are saving that for sweeps."
This is for Hannibal
My favorite Andy's song
A song about cannibalism?! Who is on vocals?
Rusty Kuntz Sting usually refused to sing anybody else's songs
Rusty Kuntz it's all about where you put the comma, for example: I like to eat, my friends.
Walking Contradiction just like Copeland and Summers objected to a lot of Stings songs, most famously Every Breath You Take, apparently they hated it.............along with a lot of Stings songs.............. he had to fight to get them used............the songs that made the Police what they became, made the band the biggest in the world and topped up Copelands & Summers bank balances.
Walking Contradiction how could Sting sing on this song.........even Summers can't sing on this song. I use the term song, loosely!
@Paul Cavanagh Sting sings the chorus.
Love this track!
Comerse a sus amigos? Esta inquietante canción no pasaría desapercibida para los Sobrevivientes de Los Andes...
Summers wrote this dammit! Not copeland
people who think this is Copeland it is not but it is Andy
Aparajit Das Stewart is American so he wouldnt have this kind accent
It Is indeed Andy, who is from Poulton in the north west of England. The accent here is not his real accent though, it's put on and sounds more like the south west. His voice on Sally is his real accent I think.
He's making a reference to the guy who ate someones face, while he was high on bath salts.
Yep good B side. I have this on a 45. It is the B side to Don't Stand So Close. That break after the second chorus is awesome.
Mother!
**Weed** Not bath salts
Sessions of Zenyatta Mondatta, 1980. This track could be on LP, instead Man in a Suitcase or that instrumental filler in the second track of b-side.
SO TRUE! Who made that bloody decision?!
I prefer this way, cuz that fantastic day I found this b side on a music shop, I was a very happy boy with a new Police song to enjoy.
O debería haber contestado en español y decir que Stewrt toca como un puto demonio... ;)
Written while under the influence of bath salts.
You, maybe. Not this song. Nobody was messing with bath salts in 1980.
It's actually a song about the book 'Stranger in a Strange land'
Written about the book Stranger in a Strange Land. Eating your dead friends was not as promonient as it is in this song.
Sorry but this #$%@ing awesome. Their B-sides are better than anyone's A-sides today.
'Andy, your songs are the most unconventional of alll.' - Stewart Copeland.
Sounds like Be my girl Sally
Great song!! Stewart plays like a demon on this one.
A very weird song by The Police;haven't heard this one since I owned the single when it came out! Thanxs for posting!
love the cymbal at the beginning :D
