GREAT lyrics! Love this tune, always have! Long live Shane, my absolute favourite songwriter and singer... Now and always. He's the artist I've seen live most times as well, he never disappoints, put on a SAVAGE show every time. Shane MacGowan, last of a dying breed, lyricist extraordinaire, and I consider him the last High-King of Éire, forget Brian Ború, Shane was/is our last High-King! All the best, Davey.. :)

wrong character written by ennis, read hellblazer if you haven't already. this is pretty much constantine's theme song, to the point a character states it sounds like it was written about constantine. considering the time frame and the fact alan moore swears he's seen constantine twice in real life? might've been.

it was played on the credits of their movie " straight to hell " the most embarassing waste of film since the coranation of qe2 , the song is completely overlooked for unknown reasons and sharon shannon playing the accordian may never get the deserved applause , an example of the soundtrack being better than the movie , just like anything from charlie chaplin , thanks for a great song , i've looked for this since i wasted 90 minutes watching the movie when i lived in dublin , probly late 80s ,

I know of this song from the horror comic, Hellblazer. There was a story arc named after this very song.

In issue 68 (40th Birthday story) the lord of the dance says the song could be about Constantine, then the later arc is named after the song. Good stuff.
