+Diäb Soulé Cept "The Clash" and "Pogues" I am also huge fan of Tom Waits and Waits always talked about Shane and "Pogues" with full respect, in the inner sleave of this album, re-edition on CD with some bonus tracks from 2004. there's Tom Waits poem simply titled "Pogues" and it's the best dedication to them I ever read or heard, I am not some fan of Nick Cave but let me remind you on Cave's and Shane's duet for cover of Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World"; they are all the one gang of fucking geniouses hanging around together with a lot of fans in common so your's comment is little bit silly!!!

He brought up old Irish songs to keep the culture alive. So why bother that he was born in the UK? I think that it is a great thing to do because when they take your culture away, u become weak as a unity.

sounds like mediterranean music, actually a lot of irish are from the mediteranee originally especially the "black irish" people with dark hair and darker skin but still white, my @0.02 enjoy the song :)

I was 15 when I first heard this voice/this song, I've been always thinking that behind this voice there must be a wonderful man, first time I saw him was 3 years ago (I age 32 by now,imagine...) but still Shane remains in my heart as a beloved friend.

i live in tunbridge wells if you read shanes autobiography, he says that he moved to england when he was 6 years old also on the documentry if i should fall from grace he says the same thing before they moved to tunbridge wells, they lived in ealing london

Most of us here are mixed with something, many of us with Irish blood. Very few here are pure anything unless their parents are foreign born emigrants. We Americans aren't just proud to be Americans, but also like to be proud of where our ancestors hail.

I'm Irish, Italian, and Polish/Czech, but I identify most strongly with the Irish side. I guess it's where you feel the most comfortable.
