The at-first-glance interesting loser twat (hence, slumming in a shack) the ex-wife ran off with when the hubby got too boring ("what became of our passion"), and now she's doing mental gymnastics ("still fighting (...), standing proud in this parody") to justify her life choices, but the cognitive dissonance is not completely resolved ("holding court with jackdaws, crying when nobody ever sees your tears").

My interpretation of the song, at least.

They are really good but not the greatest. Bands like breaking benjamin , Godsmack , Slipknot , Korn, disturbed,Papa roach, A7X still exist bro and they are still making real music ( hard rock ) in these pop music generation
