This is one of the most powerful songs I’ve ever heard in my life. I’ve been a Christian now for about 16 years. I used to be on drugs as a teen and I was sick in my head with no direction.

This message wasn’t intended for Christians, but it might as well be. The way that you guys are crucifying P.O.D. message in this song is the same way they crucified Jesus Christ on the cross. They were his people who crucified him.

For what, because he healed on the Sabath? Or was it that he was just a Carpenter?

You may have missed Christ’s purpose. To love! I’m not even going to address the cussing because true message is much greater than that.

I cry almost every time I hear this song because it reminds me that we all need Christ and that POD is reaching people that we would never even talk to or be around because of their lifestyle.

Everyone who’s horrified by his use of swearing, keep in mind that it’s not for you. He’s preaching to those living without god, from their own perspective: why would someone who didn’t even know them die for their sins? Why would he want to set them free from the fate that they deserved? Who the f*** is he? One is that for the weaker believers who are struggling against the language should be accounted for. Being a public believer should note this. In Romans 14 it suggest freedoms to be used not to harm weaker believers. This is on the artist's fault. He needs to be educated on this.

Judging is reserved not only for those who are not sutrgguling with this sin. (Matthew 7:1)
"Dont judge lest you want to be judged yourself".

The next is who are we to judge another man's servant? Romans 14)

Are we greater than God?

Instead of condemning him, we should see if this man is expressing unhealthy behavior in a Christian light. Only until then do we warn and pray for this bro.

This song only seems to be one out of many God glorifying songs and seems to be an isolated incident. A moral slipping or a period of weakness! Shame on us for being "perfect " with our unneeded expectations! God has called us from darkness.

I think "rubbish talk", as the Bible calls it, and within that context, is fruitless talk that is meaningless and that leads to a mindless, depraved lifestyle, sort of what you'd expect to come from buzzfeed, MTV, online porn forums, etc., all that nothingness talk. I'd say Sonny's message here is FAR FROM fruitless talking—even with cuss words and all. Sonny wrote some hard-hitting lyrics here that potentially changed a lot of people's lives within the short course of just five minutes. This is talk that builds up, not talk that tears down. If you can do that, then I don't care what vocabulary you use, all I hear is the incredible love of Jesus; and that's what God cares about. Did God ask you to go around nitpicking people's choice of adjectives, as if we are "perfectionist nazi's" (a lá, grammar nazis)—despite when those adjectives were spoken in a context of a Love which so few have the guts to speak publicly of. All God asks of us is to grow in the Father's love, and help others find that love. This song does precisely that. However if you believe it's fruitful to flaunt your perfect thoughts to others, then be my guest, although I think you're only deceiving yourself.

When I pray never ask God to forgive me for my sins, which are hate and say "bad words" that's because, really, I do not regret those sins. And I do not want God to give me the strength to repent of those sins. Never lied to God in prayer that I regret telling these two sins. And never will.
   I love God, and always try to follow him, I do not think he cares much about those two sins. The only thing we have to do to be with, is to tell the truth through prayer, study his word, and be baptized.

Another example is that of bullying. When a person says something is always giving an opinion on something or someone, say for example when a person tells another fat, and this person feels bad. The person who says fat is giving an opinion about the other person. And if you try to silence the person who said fat, that would be a case of censorship to a person who is giving his opinion. Obviously, the person who told the other fat seems to me a piece of shit. But I do not think that the bullying must be stopped silencing the damn person. The bullying must be stopped by the one who receives it, talking or kicking the ass of the other person. I mean, I have offended people who deserved to be offended, but that person should defend. And if the person can not defend himself, the person should find a way not to hear the opinions of stupid people. For me, people who discriminate sucks, but for other people are geniuses.

I'm not going to lie. "I Am" is one of their best songs when it comes to its artful way of getting these emotions across. Great sound too! I don't even advocate cussing but hey I'm not completely innocent of that either.

I agree they shouldn't have edited it out, but they did it so their long time Bible-thumping fans wouldn't freak out. I am a Christian and I love POD to death, but this is my favorite song by them. People just focus on them using "Fuck" in their song and not what the meaning of the song is. It is very appropriate for the tone of the song and it's not like they're overusing it in every song like other bands do.

I appreciate the edgy nature because Sonny is explaining this from the perspective of a broken person which is uplifting and also expands on the universality of the band and the message they bring.

I never thought I'd hear an F word on a P.O.D. song but once again, it makes everything much more relatable and thus, depth reaches a new unseen height!

This song rather well captures the sentiment of the rage of our sinful flesh in its encounter with God. The sense of both worthlessness and rebellion that is the encounter with Holiness. In Lutheran thought there is discussed both the naked God and the clothed God. The "naked God" is God in His unmediated, terrifying, raw, holiness and glory, it's what the Israelites experienced at Sinai when they retreated in fear and begged Moses instead to speak on God's behalf. It is a terrifying thing for sinful man to encounter the holy God. The "clothed God" is God as He would present Himself to us, He is clothed because He is clothed in the Person of Jesus Christ, and in Christ--and Christ alone--we encounter the mercy, the love, the kindness of God. It is grace and love that will overcome the rage of our sinful flesh and adopt these broken clay vessels as sons and daughters, to be clothed with the spotless white robes of Christ and His righteousness. To have upon us the Holiness and Righteousness of God, as a gift, received freely, apart from ourselves.

What they are doing in this song is taking the voice of all the broken people of the world. It kinda makes sense, and when I first herd it I was like what the check!? But then I thought about it and it makes sense

Yea, its true, most people cuss, even Christian a lot of the time. Thats true. But swearing shows whats inside a person. It shows many levels of immaturity, and the Bible does say let no unclean thing come out of your mouth. Just because you cuss doesn't mean your not a Christian, but it does mean that you need to evaluate your relationship with God.

Biovox13 that could be true, I look at it as an artistic way of expressing yourself. As we all know the big F can be used in many different was to emphasize the point your trying to get across. but if you use slanderous words in a hateful way...now we're beyond words and in the category of checking your heart. We know that God looks at our heart and words branch off from that.

@Wiggy McCrackin Yes I agree, swearing isn't bad in context. Depending on the way its being used, its not really a problem. In this song, it could actually be used in a good way, its just that  a lot of people don't really see it that way and only see the word, not the songs or why its being used.

You're bloody right, saying the words man call bad words is not a sin. They are just vocabulary words. The things that truly are sins of the tongue are lying, cursing (which is wishing harm to come to someone), swearing (which is saying I swear to do something or I swear I won't do something), and blasphemy (which is saying like OMG, GD, Lord, and JC in an empty and irreverent way).

Why is everybody so upset? All that matters is the message. Who cares if he said fuck? I agree totally. I personally am a Christian and believe that they spoke the way they did because they were portraying as though they are these people they are describing in the song. In real life the people who are raped, abused, or who rape and abuse others or do/sell drugs they don't use nice language they don't care what anyone thinks and i have personally heard people ask "Who The Fuck Is He?" refurring to Jesus Christ. The song is great, I was super bummed when they cussed, but I learned that they preyed about if and took it off the album.

What an amazing song. If you wanna get the point across to a group of pill poppers or people who have gon thrue some hard times majorly then well you have to speak their language. I am not a christian myself but I can respect this bands views, and I don't care what anyone says I love the chorus. what a wonderful song. so what if it says fuck you have to speak these kids languages.

I really hate how people are bashing om this song for the using the F word. I mean come on, it's about the message not some simple curse word.

This song will one do 2 things: 1) it will either break you and you lose self control, or 2) it will break you and bring you closer to God, and I pray that it does the second because I am a believer trying to grow in my faith, yes it's working on me, Praise God! Not honoring God? I believe it is in fact doing what it's meant to do and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
