Poco - Hurry Up Lyrics

Here I sit with like
The day has got no hours
I feel it kinda easy, tho' 'cause I'm lazy
It's a good day for showers
So, don't worry whatever
I might do, no hurry,
For I've been a telling you I'm feeling just fine.
And I really couldn't care less this time
How many more will there be?
Hurry up now tell me.
Patience is a virtue
As rewarding as a new love in spring
But suddenly forgotten when a man
Gets caught in his own dream
Outspoken faces again beware
The token of wine in a glass
Could dare you just enough
Who's joking? And when should I call your bluff?
How many more will there be?
Hurry up now tell me

Here I sit with like
The day has got no hours
I feel it kinda easy, tho' 'cause I'm lazy
It's a good day for showers
So, don't worry whatever
I might do, no hurry,
For I've been a telling you I'm feeling just fine.
And I really couldn't care less this time
How many more will there be?
Hurry up now tell me.
Patience is a virtue
As rewarding as a new love in spring
But suddenly forgotten when a man
Gets caught in his own dream
Outspoken faces again beware
The token of wine in a glass
Could dare you just enough
Who's joking? And when should I call your bluff?
How many more will there be?
Hurry up now tell me.

I have bought the eponymous oranges cd now for a 3rd time coz I wear them out. just ordered it cheap again. I personally would buy it 9 mores times its so spot on. Poco deserves the adulation and cash! Eat your hearts out Black Crowes!

  8. K.... S....

Stills prob was trying for this sound when Manassas was formed, it has that funky country r/b with latin undertones Manassas tried for. So essentially Santana meets the Byrds.

I can remember a warm summer night with this amazing tune at a Boston park called the Fenns. 1972 I believe.

  12. S.... L....

Rusty Young with the organ effect on steel, and Jimmy Messina SHREDS !!

    S.... L....

Ridiculously cool way ahead of Robert Randolph. Run that bad boy through a Leslie and a wah-wah pedal who does that they did funky is all hell

    HEY NOW!

  14. J.... &....

OH baby...I loveeee this...I was 8 when this came out and I boogied! :) Belting out all these songs!

  15. S.... ....

Jim Messina's background telecaster lick on chorus is so intriguing and amazing, as usual.

    S.... ....

Great guitar player. Never gets any credit. It was that dopey duo that screwed up his cred.

    S.... ....

An unfortunate reality that is a downer every time it comes to mind.  Even there Messina showed his wonderful mind and truly unique execution such as his improve on "Same Old Wine", which as a set of lyrics remains all too true. My experience at L&M shows is that Loggins was a controller who could not abide deviation from the studio versions as they were "successful", which quickly squelched the creative energy that would be present in the first part of their concerts. Anyway... nice to hear from you!

  16. Y.... E....

    Love love love this song!

would you have "flying solo"?pretty please?

  18. s.... ....

    Freakin' MAGICAL !!!!!

    Mean peak song?

  20. w.... j....

Peak aong of the entire Buffalo Springfield/Eagles/pre-CSNY era! Rusty Young deserves to be in the hall of fame. Epic and unknown guitar solo by Richie 3:00-3:25.

  21. t.... ....

how could they have been so powerful???? the lyrics were always so downbeat, yet the music was always so upbeat!!!! one of the great bands of all time, indeed.

  22. P.... G....

A great album. One of the best of 1970.

  23. j.... ....

    Great Jam!!

  24. j.... ....

Rusty Young is 1 bad mutha!

  25. b.... ....

The finest sounding album of its time. I agree with all of you who think, electronically, this album is something else. I also agree with those of you who simply love this album. It is, as Ali would say, ALL TIMES!

@SpencerSpats I just found the song it's Nobody's Fool/ El Tonto De Nadie, Regressa...totally kick ass!!

  27. a.... ....

@SpencerSpats You gotta put up the long instrumental. I'd love to hear that song again and I can't remember the name of it. I think it was about 20 minutes long and almost took up all of side 1. One of the best songs ever...they smoke big time!

    a.... ....

    El Tonto De Nadie Regressar

  28. T.... ....

Brilliant, mad talent in this band. Makes me sad they never got the recognition & credit they rightly deserved.

  29. P.... G....

@SpencerSpats Agreed. A perfect album and a great band. Then there's Messina's Tele licks

1Bluesboy1, thanks so much for this video post. I have been telling my friends that Hurry Up is the "Great Lost Poco Song" for a while and now I have a link.

Any chance you could post "Keep on Believing" from the same album?

  31. B.... B....

YEAH!! This was the very first song that I ever heard by Poco when this album first came out. I was hooked ever since.....,went to more than 25 of their concerts over the years...Thanks for the tremendous memories!

  32. B.... S....

Could you post Nobody's Fool (El Tonto De Nadie, Regresa) ?

  33. S.... ....

This song was such a great eye-opener for this album, which showed that Poco wasn't just a country band (because of Rusty Young on pedal steel). [That's him imitating an organ by running the steel through a Leslie speaker.] The whole album has such a great studio sound, and the arrangements are INCREDIBLE.

Blow us all away and put up "Anyway, Bye Bye".

    S.... ....

Holy @#$%^ that's not an organ? Good lord that's amazing then.

  34. b.... ....

@bigmarty56 I called it the oranges album too. Saw them first time 1971.--group intact w/ Messina still.
Loved this LP. After you posed the question--what is this. I thought OMG..this is very close to raggae --in the first half anyway.. No one knew of raggae back then. BONUS Thanks to the internet.. I NOW know all the words to Keep On Believin' -- great song, never could make it all out.

  35. b.... ....

OK: I've been very fond of this tune since it came out. Incidentally, for those of you who know The Oranges Album, isn't the sound quality awesome? Back to this song---what is it? It's not country, it's not rock, it's not jazz. It's great, but what is it?

  36. P.... G....

An absolute favorite album of mine from the summer of 1970. And how great a guitarist is Jim Messina?

  37. o.... ....

Great cut, but the entire album was really a gem-a Spanish/country/percussive/jazz/rock fusion masterpiece!

    o.... ....

Especially the totally underrated "El Tonto de Nadie Regressa". What a jam.
