Poco - Brass Buttons Lyrics

Brass buttons, green silks and silver shoes
Warm evenings, pale mornings, bottled blues
And tiny golden pins that she wore up in her hair
Brass buttons, green silks and silver shoes

My mind was young and then it grew
My thoughts known only by a few
A dream much too real to be leaned against too long
And all the time I guess she knew

Her thoughts still dance inside my head
Her comb still lies beside the bed
But the sun comes up without her, it doesn't know she's gone
And it remembers nothing that she said

Brass buttons, green silks and silver shoes
Warm evenings, pale mornings, bottled blues
And tiny golden pins that she wore up in her hair
Brass buttons, green silks and silver shoes

Rubbish version Grams was much much better

I agree totally @Robert Kilgore. Furay and the boys do a brilliant job here that few would have the balls to attempt. While Parson's original remains the definitive version, this is certainly close. Poco is still sadly underappreciated and under rated.

I know some people will disagree with me, but I think this version is much better than Gram Parsons. Richie Furay's vocals were perfect for it.

blows grams version to smithereens he was a visionary and songwriter and a good one but was still learning to sing and play at this stage.

A tip of the hat to Poco for a very fine cover of a song few others could have pulled off. The boys sure did it right. Nice to know Parsons music appreciated by others & treated so well.

  13. G.... M....

This cant touch Gram Parsons version.
