Nice, never flew a Barron but flew the 99 for 3 years and loved it, was one of my favourite aircraft.

why didnt she do the radio... was she scared, i thought it was only airline ops that have f.o do most radio coms.

she also needed most the information...shouldn't she have that pre-planed and know how to use it, great flight, some parts are interesting

of c hard crosswinds there are common but 4 ppl in abit2 land easiest runways that would bn all a challenge...on my knees.

Hi, the last time I was visited Freeport .was when I sailed in to the very new harbour ,on a British .H M S. Whirlwind , some 50+ years ago .
Had a drink or two in the “ Pub - on - the -Mall “. With a long solid oak bar with a sphere of swords just inside the entrance,.
at the the cross roads to the four districts. Had a few pints of watneys RedBarrel bitter. .. unfortunately recently was hit by a hurricane .

You all are living the dream I never finished :( Best present anyone ever got me was an "intro" flight from a college girlfriend. Loved flying that little Tomahawk and the CFI was awesome. Ended up continuing through my first solo and ran out of money. 25 years later, I'm toying with starting (all over) again.

I have had one lesson. Loved it. Exept one thing. I could not understand traffic control. Not one single word. They mumble. And they talk way too fast.
I wouldn't like flying to a busy airport.
I flew from Henderson Ky to Carmi Illinois, then to a grassy runway in Sacramento Ky. Then back to Henderson.
The pilot had to correspond to tower for me.
I had no problem handling the aircraft. The pilot was impressed. But if I can't understand tower, I'll never solo.

@Mike P Thanks so much for taking time to explain.
I was hooked on it the very first moment he handed me the controls and said "its your plane".
I felt like a kid behind the wheel of a new Ferrari.
It was a small 4 seater, single engine, low wing.
He made me steer clear of clouds because we have 3 airports within a 30 minute car ride. ( Evansville Indiana, Henderson Ky, and Owensboro Ky.)

@JasonWelchMusic - I know what you mean, because I was about ten years old when I got the opportunity to travel on a helicopter, and after that it was clear that I want to fly in the future. Now after flying aircraft for twenty years I have enjoyed every moment I have spent in the cockpit. I hope you can do it also.

@Mike P a heli is way harder... I tried one on the simulator. I did ok at first, but it didnt last long. I couldnt control the tail spin when hovering. I was trying to land on a moving yacht.

But I did the sim on an ultralight and aced it every time. I really would like to get a part 103 ultralight. You can build a legal eagle in a year for under 5000 dollars. Including a half VW motor. It will easily give you flight.
I love the open air idea.

But the sim offered me a chance to explore manuverability without risking my life.

@JasonWelchMusic - Helicopters are interesting but I chose to fly aircraft. I did my basic training on a PA-28, and I really like that aircraft.

@Mike P I just looked up the pa28.
It looks alot like what l flew. 4 seater, low wing, and l remember the only airflow came from a 4" vent in the side window.
It was 90 outside, and probably 120 in the cab. But once we got higher, the air coming in the vent became cooler. We were still hot but not as bad. We stayed hydrated. My bladder was like a water balloon when we landed in Carmi Ill.
Note to self.... wear light clothing, and keep a pee bottle!...😂🤣

Is it true that the big aeroplanes are taken off, landed and flown by computers ? (unlike this example of a small plane where the pilot is clearly flying the plane) just wondering whether it would be a bit boring if the computer does it all. When you leave America in the plane you mentioned just filling out a form online ie no passport control; whats to stop someone coming on the plane and illigally parachuting into the bahamas? When you arrive in the Bahamas do you mentined just filling in some forms.....what does that entail ? do you get a stamp on the passport ?

The aircraft are not flown by computers (autopilot) during the takeoff. The pilots fly the aircraft manually during the takeoff. The autopilot is used when the aircraft is in its cruising altitude. Usually the landings are also made manually and the pilot makes the landing. Sometimes in certain conditions the landing can be made using the autoland system.

Link Age - I have lived through that time when there was no aviation apps and no GPS. The VOR and ADF were used in navigation.

Fun Fact = The GoPro 7 on the front glare shield overheated and shutoff 6 different times on this flight which I had to take off and cool it down in the air vents to get it back working.
