I love Placebo but this is outright plagiarism. Do me a favour. Please listen to Dream Scream by Death Cab for Cutie (which is itself a cover of Daniel Johnston. This is extremely disappointing.

correct me if Im wrong but I think that cover was published in 2004 and Placebo's album Sleeping with Ghosts is from march 2003?

So I checked it and you're absolutely correct: recording for Sleeping with Ghosts started a two years earlier than the Death Cab cover was released. And while Centrefolds is strikingly similar to the Death Cab cover of the Daniel Johnston original, it has similarities to but is certainly not a plagiarism of Johnston's piece.

So now I'm just confused and disoriented. It's not exactly reasonable that Death Cab could simultaneously cover one song and rip off another. Either way, i was completely wrong here, and effectively libeled a band I adore-- thank you very much for correcting me.
