I think, after listening again, that the bird may be the rocket going to Mars. In transit, they will be no place and that's where the speaker will sleep. Olympus Mons, the highest point on Mars, would make a good place to land if they have a method of entry not dependant on essentially crashing.

Kim was supposed to sing this one. Love the song, but it's so hard not to picture her doing it. I think it would have been even better, and rounded out Trompe so much more.

i remember listening to this album a lot while writing several final term papers one night in december 2002. the pixies and rolling stones plus cigarettes, chocolate, adderall, and a bottle of coppola cabernet that night... and going to school the next day like nothing happened. lol the energy of youth...

one word A ... yes! Some of their other songs catch your attention earlier. Some are more "accessible" to the typical listener's ear. Nothing by the pixies really diminishes over time with repeated listens, and much grows but ... its THIS song that, for me, always grows in awesomeness and just leaves my mind blown.

+Bruno Ksu I know it's too late, but tame is not a good place to start with pixies. it's way too abrasive. I'd go with Hey, where is my mind, caibou, and gigantic or debaser. these are relatively assessible as far as pixies go imo

Probably the best Pixies song ever. I know fellow fans will think differently...... But to my small mind this is the greatest . Rosa and Dolittle  are prob better albums but as a stand alone song I don't think I've heard better.
