First heard this by Timi Yuro on her "Best of" LP. Both artists have voices that can carry this tune backed with a superb orchestral arrangement.

I love Gene, but the ultimate version of this one is by Lou Johnson.

Not one of Gene's better known BIG songs.... but just perhaps... his biggest CULT hit. And... when I think that he penned "He's A Rebel"... gosh, I liked to die. RIP

A little correction Barry. Gene was in Cardiff  Wales for his last performance with a standing ovation. He was found in his bed the next morning by his agent. He'd had a heart attack in his sleep. April 5, 2006.
