Pink Floyd - Take Up Thy Stethescope And Walk Lyrics

Doctor doctor!
I'm in bed
Achin' head
Gold is lead
Choke on bread
Underfed
Gold is lead
Jesus bled
Pain is red
Are goon
Grow go
Greasy spoon
You swoon
June bloom
Music seems to help the pain
Seems to cultivate the brain.
Doctor kindly tell your wife that
I'm alive - flowers thrive - realize - realize
Realize.

Pink Floyd Take Up Thy Stethescope And Walk Comments
  1. w.... ....

    Nicely paced bit of rave.
interesting, says it's a Waters song but if feels more like a great group effort.

  2. F.... 2....

    they were on acid

  3. B.... M....

imagine smoking weed while listening to that
''imagining my self imagining'' while I am actually smoking weed, lol
    God bless you Pink Floyd

  4. C.... E....

a trip of the madness day! Fabulous track!

  5. M.... R....

Doctor, Doctor... ¡Amazing! Love to be at that moment, the late 60's (and having Internet of course :) )

  6. S.... L....

Corporal Klegg.... had a wooden leg...

    S.... L....

he won it in the war

  7. S.... L....

    I'M INSANE.

  8. S.... L....

    I'm insane.

  9. S.... L....

    I'm insane.

  10. I.... B....

    Rolón papá

  11. R.... D....

    Damn this son is amaising

  12. J.... N....

    *-the Pink Floyd

  13. T.... O....

Is it just me or does this song sound like something by the Doors?

    T.... O....

like My eyes have seen you : )

    T.... O....

    @paul v Yes.

  14. 1.... H....

at the drive-in does a good cover of this...

  15. H.... M....

Thank god their music got more organized after they got Gilmour involved. Barrett sounds like he's losing his marbles over the course of the entire album (which in fact he kind of was).

  16. s.... ....

    This is acid punk

  17. D.... A....

I enjoy pink Floyd than drugs.

  18. I.... ....

normal people: The Wall is Roger Waters' masterpiece
    me, an intellectual:

    I.... ....

    I prefer the wall.
It’s just so much better, but you can have your own opinion

  19. P.... M....

What does Syd say at 2:14 But now; but how? I can' t understand

    P.... M....

    It sounds like get out

  20. K.... S....

    Realize..

  21. I.... P....

I had no idea it was Roger singing in here

  22. P.... M....

Bravo Roger Waters

  24. p.... c....

    Insanely

  25. B.... F....

Too bad modern Roger is a piece of shit considering all he talks about is how bad Israeli culture is and how much of Nazi he is

  26. C.... F....

    When I play the organ

  27. M.... K....

In my opinion the best Pink Floyd album they ever made.

  28. J.... W....

Notice how prominent Rick Wright is on the cover. He was the #2 man until Syd burned up and blew away.

    J.... W....

Rick was the meat and potatoes, the heart and soul, of Pink Floyd.

  29. B.... M....

Rick and Syd going back and forth is godly

  30. R.... V....

    1.3K!!!!!!!

  31. t.... j....

    Excellent

  32. H.... A....

I need Pink Floyd to enjoy my drugs.

  33. M.... C....

when i get drunk i send this song to everyone i know.

    M.... C....

I upload it on Instagram when im drunk

  34. K.... ....

Brilliant. Always thought the singing sounded like like the Everly Brothers on amphetamines

  35. s.... ....

This stereo mix emphasizes Roger and is clearly the weaker in comparison to the crazier Syd mono mix version which was the only version approved by the band in 1967.

  36. F.... M....

Listen to the guitar during the organ solo. Insane.

    F.... M....

Whole track's mental. Makes me wonder what '60s nightclubs were like

    F.... M....

Kelly14UK I wanna know what those underground shows were like that Pink Floyd played at before this album’s release

    F.... M....

    ok I will

    F.... M....

I read "orgasm solo" at first.

  37. C.... S....

Top 10 album! I like this so much more than their 70’s stuff.

  38. p.... ....

    Just bloody awful

    p.... ....

Your username is a perfect resemblance of your music taste.

    p.... ....

    You’re awful

  39. L.... R....

    syd forever

  40. F.... ....

    who does sing the song?

    F.... ....

Roger on lead, Syd and Rick on backing

  41. A.... 4....

Increible y creativo, nada que envidiarle a el maestro Barret.

    A.... 4....

Aunque esta es la única canción de Roger Waters en el disco jajajaja. Pero sobre el sonido de la guitarra, pues si, Syd era un puto genio.

  42. M.... M....

    My dad hates this song

  43. B.... M....

I'm just gunna say it, I don't trust Roger. Everything he says in regards to Syd leaving the band sounds exactly like what someone who wanted a guy out of the band would say, yah know, keeps things light. Wouldn't be the first group to give the band a false sense of purpose for story's sake. just a theory, still love rogers, his bass playing really bounces with syds unique signature compositions. But anyone could probably agree with me when I say it wouldnt be hard to name several petty reasons he mightve outted syd and lied about it.

    B.... M....

@Brandon Mendes I just said it is not plausible. We can't know what the hell happened. I just said that were justified to kick him out. I honestly don't care. 1967-1972 Floyd is the best thing I've ever heard, it is both with and without Syd

    B.... M....

Syfoll Not probable because of evidence that supports otherwise? Or not plausible cause Roger told you so? So it must be so! Also I'm a huge fan of Roger. His contributions of electrifying, groove driven, thump bass guitar was the reason I started playing bass. I've been playing for over 10 years now and I still love the breakdown on Take Thy Stylydoscope and Walk. I listen to it everyday. No matter what happened, I agree with you that it was justified. Just curious

    B.... M....

    myyootube2 spot on

    B.... M....

@Brandon Mendes because other people tell that. Peter Jenner, their manager, that left them because he thought that the band won't be able to manage the loss of Syd says that he kinda lost it. He and another guy found Syd sleeping in the streets after he went missing for a week and they said that from that point, he had that blank stare. Plus, he started a band called Stars in 1972 and wasn't able to play on stage and left. Unfortunately he hanged out in groups with retards who spiked his coffee and kept him constantly in a trip. He apparently was on LSD for 14 straight days. Holy fuck

  44. E.... G....

    Verse 1]
    Doctor, doctor!
    I’m in bed (Doctor, doctor)
    Achin’ head (Doctor, doctor)
    Gold is lead (Doctor, doctor)
    Choke on bread (Doctor, doctor)
    Underfed (Doctor, doctor)
    Gold is lead (Doctor, doctor)
    Jesus bled (Doctor, doctor)
    Pain is red (Doctor, doctor)
    Dark doom
    Gruel ghoul, greasy spoon
    Used spoon, June bloom

    [Interlude]

    [Verse 2]
Music seems to help the pain
    Seems to cultivate the brain
Doctor kindly tell your wife that
    I’m alive
    Flowers thrive
    Realise
    Realise
    Realise

  45. C.... M....

    Pain is Red.

  46. N.... M....

This almost seems, without the lyrics, it could almost be a Super Mario Bros theme song or something...

  47. C.... B....

Really weird to think this man would later become the creative force and make The Wall and Final Cut later. He even looks a bit shy on the album cover, and he later became a very assertive jerk. He's good now though, lol

    C.... B....

@Execusor He didn't. Great Gig, Us and Them and Any Colour You Like were not written by him

    C.... B....

@Syfoll Great Gig is the only one he didn't write, us and them Richard help him, and Any Colour You Like was written by all 4 of them

    C.... B....

@Execusor No. On Us and Them he only wrote lyrics, the song already existed since at least late 1969 as The Violent Sequence (look it up, it's good) and Any Colour You Like was done as a jam between Dave, Rick and Nick, who used Roger's bassline from Breathe, as he was on vacation at that time. Also, Time credits everyone, and Breathe has Roger, Dave and Rick. So, again, he didn't write the entirety of Dark Side.

    C.... B....

@Syfoll Thanks for the information, I feel enlighten

    C.... B....

    @Execusor No problem, buddy

  48. M.... C....

    love this tune

  49. N.... S....

My friends never listen to this kind of psychedelic music. *They are missing out! I am loving this!*

    N.... S....

Nipple Sucker Mother Trucker do them a favor and show them

  50. T.... B....

    real eyes, realize, real lies
    jaden smith is that you?

  51. J.... B....

    God Exist!!! Here Is!!!

  52. C.... ....

Man thee oh sees really were inspired by this album I feel like

    C.... ....

    Definetely.

    C.... ....

    oh sees fan checkin in

  53. K.... 8....

Even I think this is pretty heavy for a pink Floyd song.

    K.... 8....

    Even you huh

    K.... 8....

You should listen The Nile Song

  54. M.... ....

You can really tell that Waters wrote this and not Barrett lol

    M.... ....

And considering that Waters would go on to write songs about his fear of going insane, I wonder if Waters tried to convince BARRETT that HE (barrett) was going insane. Going into conspiracy theory territory, huh?

    M.... ....

One man acting alone isn't a conspiracy. Nor is it illegal to convince some one they are insane. So no.

    M.... ....

Do you know who sings this track?

    M.... ....

Probably came up with it after a good spiff too

    M.... ....

@subg88 It may not be, "illegal" , but it IS known as, "Gaslighting" and is recognised as a logical fallacy. "Legality" is both regional and arbitrary.

  55. S.... ....

Is this just me, or this would fit perfectly as a segment of Insterstellar Overdrive?

    S.... ....

I always think of this as the manic prelude to the massive drop that is Interstellar Overdrive. Both songs are incredible.

    S.... ....

    No it would

    S.... ....

    Christopher Kowalski well described

    S.... ....

    @Syfoll true words

  56. M.... A....

if you listen very hard at 2:49-2:51 when the word alive ends you can listen somebody shouting a word

  61. D.... W....

I remember an interview with Rogers in the 80's right after the Berlin Wall show, in which he spoke about getting really, really sick with influenza as a child. He said it was so bad he could have died. I think this song, and a few other things Roger has done ("Comfortably Numb," most notably, but also "Free Four" and others) hearken back to the memory of that experience. I remember in the interview he said it had a profound effect on him.

  62. E.... o....

It can't get out of my head, help me doctor doctor.

    E.... o....

then get rid of your head. easy as. trust me, i have a phd

    Doctah doctah

  65. R.... C....

I think if Roger Waters had been born at least 15 years later, he would've been the greatest Punk Rocker of all time.

    R.... C....

Punk sucks imo. I like Pink Floyd just how the were.

    R.... C....

    Music. Labels. Fools.

    R.... C....

@The Ban Man lol they weren't

    R.... C....

@Mullac Abu not only that, in 'Vegtable Man' Syd captures punks urgency almost perfectly

    R.... C....

Roger Waters may have been Sid Vicious.

  66. R.... C....

I feel like I should hate this but I fucking love it

    R.... C....

Why should you hate something like this?

  67. T.... B....

One of my favorites from Piper - love the imagery and the feeling of jubilation at the end when the music cures him and he comes "back to life"

  68. B.... ....

I listened to this shit as a kid...that explains a lot.

    B.... ....

    Bubba it’s not shit

    B.... ....

maybe he is a shit, not the song

    B.... ....

Bubba:- As I did. As I did. Studying his guitar playing out of one side of the stereo. Began when I was twelve, I'm in my forties now and I still love the man. Thank you for the Song-dream Mr. Barrett, thank you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
